Quote# 60875

Dabbling in the occult is NEVER harmless. Remember our battle is not of the flesh it is against the powers and principalities! I have a 14 year old step-son I caught reading Harry Potter...needless to say it got snatched out of his hand and thrown away. People think its harmless its not .....its a gateway.....especially for younger kids!

Father Karras

Damn you Khaine, that's my quote! The Builder will surely smite thee, as thieves steal power from the grand machine when they steal from other hard-working Cogs!

Wandering Scribe

Powers and Principalities are both ranks of angel's in God's employ, you idiot.

I was going to say a little reading never hurt anyone, but then I remembered that religious texts are generally read. . . . Bet your kid can't wait until he's old enough to choose what to do/read for himself.

Reminds me of another group of people who banned books...

The Watcher

I hope he casts a spell on you and makes you not a bitch.

Bah, with a spell repertoire as limited as that he's never gonna go anywhere.

Bunny Boy

A gateway to what? Bad Holloween costumes and broken latin?

3/25/2009 8:14:56 PM

So he went to the library and read it. Big deal. Probably due to your stupidity and insanity in making a big deal out of NOTHING, he'll become absolutely fascinated by magic, wizards and witches. Then he'll grow up and become a pagan. WAY TO GO, MA, ONE MORE FOR OUR SIDE!!!

3/25/2009 8:20:25 PM

You're a dumbass.
You wouldn't know what "occult" was even if it came and slapped you in your fat ass.
Harry Potter is a fictional book. Like The Hobbit.

Way to insure your stepson hates you.

Those books are EXPENSIVE!

Cut it out! You don't want your kid reading it, at least have the good sense to sell it! Don't let it go to waste!

Dio Fa

Harry Potter?
*laughing hysterically*

If you would have seen what I was reading in Grade 8, you would have had a heart attack.

3/25/2009 8:56:21 PM

It's a shitty fantasy book written for teenagers. Leave the kid alone and let him have a normal childhood, you prick.

3/25/2009 9:14:58 PM

You're just going to make him want to read it more. When I was younger, I really wanted to read Harry Potter because my parents were fundies and wouldn't let us read them.

And guess what else? Their fundie attitudes pushed me towards atheism, not the books!

3/25/2009 9:20:16 PM

What if it was a library book? Now you're going to have to pay for the book so that they can replace it.

Good thinking idiot!

3/25/2009 9:27:13 PM

When has any one ever become a cult member because they read Harry Potter?

3/25/2009 9:30:24 PM

J. Random Lurker

Just wait until he starts reading Mario Puzo (his works are decent, but I doubt you'd approve of them), or worse, the Twilight series (shudder)...

A gateway to what?

My mom was pretty lenient with what I read/watched/listened to and I have yet to kill, rape, rob, fold, spindle or mutilate anyone. All that happened was that I became a well-rounded adult who is capable of reason and critical thought. Of course, I guess as far as mister 1 is concerned, that's on a par with being a rabid satanist.

Thanks mom!

Way to go, destroying public property like that (or someone else's property, since I suspect that kid had borrowed it from someone, rather than buying it). So, vandalism for Jeebus award?
Also, gateway to what? Free thought?

3/25/2009 10:42:34 PM

Oy Vey!

You just drove another person away from Christianity.

3/25/2009 10:56:42 PM

Nothing new under the sun.

Why is it that dabbling in the "occult" is harmful, yet dabbling in the "divine" is not?

I mean, the Christian God has proven Himself to be "all-terrible" when He's angry. I'm not taking my chances praying to that sort of gods - even if you're saying He really loves everyone.

Thank you, but I'll take the occult any day.
