This number called me constantly until they got my voiceprint. This is a shadow company which is a covert NSA "grey operation" trying to get a voiceprint on all US citizens by recording their voice when they answer. They will keep calling back until they get a "good print". You can't do anything to combat this short of leaving the country - if there is silence, speak an entire sentence very clearly and I promise this number will stop calling you. Once they have a good print, the number or "company" will stop calling you. This is not a conspiracy, but the truth. Tax dollars at work.

Having worked at a telemarketing call center myself, working on the autodialers, it is rather amusing to read these theories.

The fact of the matter is simply that autodialers use predictive algorithms when making their calls. Namely, they don't wait for an agent to hang up before calling another number, as that would be woefully inefficient (way too many wrong numbers, no answers, answering machines, and so forth).

Instead, they call tens of phone numbers at once, having predicted how many of these numbers will answer and how many agents will be free at the time the call comes through.

Sometimes however the predictive algorithm fails (someone ends up on the phone too long, agents go on break, whatever), and a call comes through when there's no agent available to take it.

The result is that phone call you get when there is apparently no one on the line (at least for a while). :)

So no conspiracy.

Though I did notice special Red Chips in our dialers one day... naaah.

This is the truth. There was a reddit article recently about this. Even the r/conspiracy people called it nuts. It's true. I dug around on there and before it was shutdown it was obvious it was a fake site to cover for that op. The profiles were fake names (some were generated, like html tag names, etc). They were nonsensical and bullshit. They would maintain conversations that lasted *years* (who does that). There was activity there that rivaled large social media sites - which was hard to believe. They also went out of their way to block Tor/VPNs. When I caught on and started trolling them, they tried tactics like hangup calls - I would then go there (to the number that called) and would find names of my friends and family. As if that were some kind of threat. Anyway, 800notes.com is down now. It was a Black Op. But I think it was more than just to capture voices (though that was included).
