Nope, no vaccinations for my children. They are 3 & 4 and have never had more than the sniffles their entire life. I cover them with pray, rebuke the enemy and stand on God's promises. And He has been faithful.
Based on my research, vaccinations do more harm than good.
I think everyone should decide based on their own personal research and convictions. If a mom chooses to vaccinate, it's her decision. I however, cannot, in good conscience, subject my children to this poison.

Seconding EvoPagan.
That being said, insert a general response of "Yeah, the Smallpox and Polio vaccines did WAY more damage than good, what WERE we thinking?" here.
Fucking dumbass.
"Based on my research"
(not mentioned in the KJV)
I am reminded of a cartoon I saw;
there's a witch doctor standing before one of the Easter Island heads, some of the others are seen in the background. Doc is saying "I appeal to you because I feel you have more sense than the others."
Cover them in what now?
Based on my research, vaccinations do more harm than good.
Would love to see that research you arrogant fundy fucknuckle. Did you use anything other than the babble?
from the very same RR thread
As far as I know, it is NOT illegal to not give shots. Doctors and schools will tell you it's mandatory for a child to be fully vaccinated before entering kindergarten... most of the time this is not true. In Michigan you can sign a waiver for various reasons why you decided not to vaccinate (i.e., religious reasons - that being aborted fetal tissue used to create the vaccine - this is true by the way) and they will allow your child to attend public school.
Just DO YOUR RESEARCH.
They never research properly - or do they leave out large parts of the actual fact deliberately?
Anyway the RR thread seemed mostly sane and well considered, with most of them having a healthy caution about vaccinations.
The OP just seemed to want to demonstrate themselves as most fundy in a thread of non fundiness!
More fundy than thou award?
Wayhay! Edit function restored!
"I however, cannot, in good conscience, subject my children to this poison."
So, instead you chose to subject to mumps, measles, polio, etc?
Based on my research, vaccinations do more harm than good.
Lying for Jesus. You fucktards wouldn't know how to find valid information if it dropped from the skies which, by the way, is not how we got your bible.
"Based on my research, vaccinations do more harm than good. "
Is this the same kind of research that proves Obama wasn't born in the US?
Your kids have never gotten more than the sniffles because the majority of people around them have all been vaccinated, and diseases like smallpox, polio, and diphtheria, among others, are now eradicated or very rare in the US. If everyone were as selfish and ignorant as you are, one or both of your kids would be lucky to make it to their fifth bithday. Many kids were dead by the age of 5 before those useless vaccinations were invented. Just take a look at your county's nineteenth century death records the next time you're doing your "research", and then try to tell us again about vaccinations doing more harm than good.
Vaccinations for polio, measles and DPT should be mandatory by law to protect the public health from the increasing menace of these idiots.
#931843: 'Is this the same kind of research that proves Obama wasn't born in the US?'
Lucky guess! Of the grand total of 2 links in the whole thread, one of them is for WorldNutDaily...
Yeah man, that awful poison that has completely eliminated small pox and drastically slowed the spread of measles, polio, whooping cough and numerous other childhood diseases that killed millions of children in the past. You show them!
If your kid is ever bitten by a rabid animal and needs the vaccine, something tells me that you'll be changing your tune pretty quickly, since prayer doesn't seem to be very effective when it comes to an infection that is universally fatal.
Make Boston your next vacation destination. Take a walk around one of the colonial graveyards- "burial groaunds." The first thing you notice is they're filled with infants. toddlers, and young children who probbly died of things we don't have to worry about because of vaccinations- like smallpox, measles, diptheria, etc. BTW, you're not just rolling the dice with your own kids, who don't have a say in the matter. What if they DO get sick? They could infect an infant who's too young to get their first shots. Your stupidity and selfishness could kill someone else's baby.
this one is basic freedom of parental choice, no big deal really. now if she didnt take her kids to the doctor, at all, that would be a problem. Vacinations arent something of a fundie mesurment, plenty of non-fundementalist parents dont get their kids vaccinated.
"Research" meaning you heard your churchmaster say vaccinations are teh eeeevil.
It's easy to say that a figment of your imagination is faithful, but is it worth anything?
"I cover them with pray, rebuke the enemy and stand on God's promises"
And I cast Magic Missile at the darkness.
"Based on my research, vaccinations do more harm than good."
You should publish this research, the people whose lives have been saved by vaccines don't seem to have heard about it.
Which is why most people who get vaccinations have an adverse reaction to them. Oh, what's that? It's not most people, but a very small number? And having the vaccinations prevents life-threatening and potentially crippling diseases?
Cite your sources please because I think your research is incomplete at best.
It is traditional, when doing research, to actually do some fucking research.
The reason your kids have only had sniffles is that all the other kids have been vaccinated against the nastier stuff. And the reason they still get sniffles is because there isn't a vaccination for the common cold.
Moron.
@Moondog
They are also endangering children who, for reasons of allergy or some other medical condition, cannot be vaccinated and depend on "herd immunity" or the fact that all those around them are vaccinated and won't contract any of those diseases.
And, of course, when your kids die from easily preventable diseases, it had nothing to do with your stupidity; it was merely God's will to call His little angels home.
I've got a primary source document of a family living in rural Britain in the late 1700's.
The husband wrote a diary which contained the births of all of his kids. Of the 7 that his wife bore, accoridng to the diary, only 2 made it past 10. Two kids out of 7. I am almost 100% sure that if he had vaccines, almost all of his kid would have lived.
Never had more than the sniffles, eh? That's because they haven't been out amongst other germ factories in school. Just wait til little Cletus comes home from kindy-gardin and vomits up a quarter of his body weight in fluid and passes out from dehydration. There are nasty flus out there, not to mention chicken pox, which I NEVER had becaue my mom got me vaccinated.
This dumb cunt is NEGLIGENT. Those poor kids.
While I don't refuse all vaccinations completely, I have my girls on an extended vaccination schedule. They still get them, later on. For instance, neither of my girls have had their chicken pox vaccines. They're going to be getting those closer to when they're around 13, when chicken pox becomes more something to worry about if they catch it. I did my research before I worked out this schedule with my pediatrician, who agreed that spreading the shots out would be better for my children. Even though no link has been proven between vaccinations and autism, since they have a cousin who at 2 (the last time we saw her) was showing signs of severe autism, and they haven't discovered what exactly does cause it, their pediatrician agreed that it was best not to take any chances in that regard.
Luckily, if an epidemic hits, we'll still have enough for herd immunity, so the fundies will get to see their god.
'Based on my research, vaccinations do more harm than good.'
What research would this be? From your RaptureRetard pastor? When 1 of your kids dies of meningitis, will you then attribute it to 'God's will'? If you do you are one SICK FUCK.
And this is why only a few years ago my (yankee even) state had an outbreak of... wait for it... the measles because a church community had these crazy ideas.
I don't wonder so much about MMR and such, but what about tetanus/lockjaw? I mean, as a kid you are in situations everyday where you could be exposed to that...
EDIT - Wait, what? A chick from Germany is coming over to the US with her kids having had NO shots at all and says this in the thread:
"I've done the research and for many reasons, there are vaccines we would not consider (rubella being one), due to the inhumane ways that they were developed... even if we were vaccinating."
So, she's not getting the GERMAN MEASLES vaccine and they will let them into this country? I've got to go google how it was developed, but come on... sometimes the ends can justify the means and keep your disease to yourself!!!!
@ Painful
A quick pop over to wikipedia netted this...
"The component viral strains of MMR vaccine were developed by propagation in animal and human cells. The live viruses require animal or human cells as a host for production of more virus.
For example, in the case of mumps and measles viruses, the virus strains were grown in embryonated hens' eggs and chick embryo cell cultures. This produced strains of virus which were adapted for the hens egg and less well-suited for human cells. These strains are therefore called attenuated strains. They are sometimes referred to as neuroattenuated because these strains are less virulent to human neurons than the wild strains.
The Rubella component, Meruvax, is propagated using a human cell line (WI-38, named for the Wistar Institute) derived in 1961 from embryonic lung tissue. This cell line was originally prepared from tissues of aborted fetuses, raising religious objections."
tl;dr version:
They used to use aborted fetuses.
She doesn't come out and say it, but I suspect one of her biggest issues is with the HPV vaccine, presumably because getting the vaccine would lead her daughters to have more sex.
Isn't that cause-effect relationship roughly comparable to getting a diphtheria vaccination and then saying, "I'm heading over to Calcutta so I can drink the sewer water"?
toothache: "I suppose you'll blame god when your kids go blind from measles then."
Well, like Fletch said in the second movie: "We of perfect faith have no need for perfect eyesight."
Idiot! The reason your children have never caught vaccinable diseases is because practically everyone else around them will have been vaccinated! Thanks to the herd immunity effect, anti-vaccers benefit almost as much from mass vaccination programmes as the people who actually take part in them - just without shouldering their fair share of the risk of side effects that everyone else accepts as the cost of net protection from a greater danger.
That your kiddies "never had more than the sniffles" is irrelevent. Once they actually are exposed to, say, hooping cough or typhus, they may never have the sniffles again.
"Based on my research"
Ah, that was a good one.
"Based on my research, vaccinations do more harm than good."
Translation: "The Bible doesn't say anything about Jesus being vaccinated."
I don' think this cunt understands that diseases like polio, measles, mumps, rubella and so forth have only been eradicated from the developed world.
Travel to any rural thrid world country. Small pox and polio are still rampant.
I was born in 1950, I remember when kids in the neighhborhood having braces had nothing to do with their teeth.
Doctors Salk and Sabin, true American heroes.
When your children eventually get a cold, flu, upset stomach and other ailments this must mean God has decided you're a moron and no longer listens to your prayers, right? If your child infected mine with something I would own you and everything you have.
I pity your children if they get hep, measles, mumps, rubella, polio, or whooping cough because of you're idiotic decisions.
Based on my research, vaccinations do more harm than good.
Did you actually go on medical sites and do real reasearch or is this all based on stuff you just heard?
I however, cannot, in good conscience, subject my children to this poison.
Better hope that your kids don't get polio or a horrible flu.
Based on my research, vaccinations do more harm than good
Clown's Report to Luci, the demonic teacher:This line clearly indicates that our desinformation patterns are working as planned. Soon, in just a few generations, there will be no Holly Warriors of rapture left. MWAHAHAHA!
I cannot fucking believe there is still a debate among politicians about whether parents can deny medical treatment for religious reasons. No! They're fucking killing their children!
This is the single issue with fundies that pisses me off the most. Especially since last year, some Jehovah's Witnesses killed 4 of their children by denying them blood transfusions, and the media made them look like the good guys.
I absolutely cannot stand parents who will not vaccinate their children at all. They are not _only_ putting their own children at risk. There are lots of kids who cannot be vaccinated for sound medical reasons (they're too young, or allergic to the preservatives in the vaccine) and those kids rely on the disease not being able to spread. And vaccines aren't 100 percent effective in kids who have been vaccinated. It's really, really irresponsible of parents not to vaccinate.
To Equalist: I know you've discussed this with your doctor, but I was in the hospital for a week with chicken pox when I was seven, even though I was a healthy kid. Chicken pox is nothing to laugh at even before puberty, because there's no telling how any individual kid will react. And the one study that found a minor link between autism and vaccines has been soundly discredited, but that's for you and your doctor to discuss.

To be fair, most of the infant mortality in the Olden Days was due to bacterial, rather than viral, infection -- pneumonia, scarlet fever, cholera, dysentary, tuberculosis, and (once doctors started poking their dirty scalpels into delivery rooms) puerperal fever.
These ailments are cured today by antibiotics, not by vaccines.
"I think everyone should decide based on their own personal research and convictions."
Just like the elections, right...oh wait, Obama is the Antichrist, n'est-ce pas?
Let me guess, your "research" involved ignoring everything your actual doctor told you, and instead relying on rumors you read on the internet?
This is the problem with fundies, they simply don't have the skills necessary to evaluate evidence and make a rational decision. Everything is driven by emotion, and quacks take advantage of that by appealing to fear. These people are more afraid of their kid getting sick as a result of the vaccine than getting sick of the disease it prevents. Even though the chances are insanely small, vaccinating children is a positive action taken by the parents, and it seems many are paralyzed by the fear that their actions could harm their kids.
@vampiirehummingbiird, my Midwestern parents have talked about the absolute terror that gripped communities in the summer when polio was rampant--how kids were banned from swimming pools, movie theaters, etc. to prevent infection. Has InHisFarts ever talked to anyone over 50?
I myself witnessed a polio epidemic in Trinidad in the '70's, and visited the wards where the crippled children were being treated. Anyone who has seen polio up close would bitch-slap this idiot to death.
My earlier post was too terse.
I think this has little to do with immunology. It has to do with parental rights.
What makes this cunt think she has the power of life or death over her children, I wonder?
This is a "right" parents do NOT fucking have.
as the daughter of someone who was stuck in a city that was quarantined off because of a smallpox outbreak, I have this to say:
DIAF, preferably today, so your kids can get responsible adoptive parents ASAP. People like you cause epidemics.
I really, truly hope something terrible happens to this fucker so that the kids are taken in by responsible parents.
I mean that very literally. She's endangering their lives because of her death cult.
People like that deserve all the diseases and illnesses their children can/will catch/spread, and then some. But I have a feeling that her mother vaccinated her. In fact, I'd bet on it.
I'm probably going to hell for this, but...
I'll be sitting here laughing when IHS is posting next year about how her kids died of something totally preventable.
/Window seat & a pillow, plz.
I think it's ridiculous for parents to refuse to have their children vaccinated. They are not only putting their own children in danger but all so the children who cant get vaccinated. Like me for instance when I was getting my vaccines when I was really little and I got the first booster for pertussis I had an allergic reaction( eyes rolled back in my head and my body stiffened up) so my doctor said I shouldn't get the next booster, and I remained unvaccinated. so when my brothers friend(who's mom was crazy) got Whooping cough I had to stay home from school and wasn't allowed to play outside and my brother wasn't allowed to see his friend until he got better in case I caught it(which I didn't).
I have worked on a ward caring for people who had polio back in the 50's and are still suffering the results of the paralysis and damage it did.
I have 2 kids and I have vaccinated them against everything I could - I would never forgive myself if they caught something they could have avoided.
And of course Doctors will agree with you if you say you don't want to vaccinate, that is their job! Just as, in my nursing profession it is my job to be the patients advocate and support them in what they decide, but it is also our responsibility to try and make sure you have all the information before you make a decision. :(
I agree with this... and I'm an atheist.
Although I'm sure she and I came to this conclusion through very different thought processes/research.
Most of the parents I know who choose not to vaccinate their children, do NOT claim religion as the reason.
Jenny McCarthy was running around a while ago saying that vaccinations caused autism in children, although I think the original study that claimed that has since been disproved.
When I finally have kids, I intend to vaccinate them.
My dad suffered from polio when he was a child and that made his childhood really hard, still he could overcome most of the problems of the disease. Had there been a vaccine available when he was a kid, he would have had a much better childhood. My grandma was a catholic fundie and she tried to pray away the disease, guess what? it didn't work.
In my dad's name I'd like to tell you to go fuck yourself.
Imagine: Pneumonia strikes her eldest. Clearly he was possessed by the devil who has corrupted his lung. She throws holy water at it and in the process of removing the devil her son also kicks the bucket. (Because his lung is filled with water.) Which means that God (who seemingly was faithful to her and not the other way around) was defeated by the devil in this case, which means she thinks God is weaker than the devil, which is blasphemy.
Therefore, she is a heretic, atheist, Jew, muslim and probably a gay tranny too. Maybe communist.
'Based on my research, vaccinations do more harm than good.'
What research would that be? The KJV Buy-bull? Your airheaded pastor/preacher? I feel sorry for your kids, should they get H1N1. God won't be able to help them.
it's also been known that you can transfer immunity via breast feeding, so, in keeping with protecting your kids from ailments, did you breastfeed. Or did you use chlorinated water thats been through the shit plant a few hundred times.
I really wish knew their post was here, so they could reply
I agree that a parent should do their own research and decide whether they feel a vaccination is best for their children (seems how there is a controversy on whether or not vaccines can actually do harm.)
There are indeed some small risks associated with vaccines, particularly in people who have a history of GBS or an allergy to any of the components. Whether or not the more radical claims of the harmfulness of vaccines is true is something I haven't sufficiently researched to have an opinion on.
The problem is that most people doing "their own research" are going to find crackpot websites and misinformation on both sides, because most people use the internet as a resource.
Insanity is hereditary. But it can be cured by education and a healthy does of scientific facts.
I only hope this subhuman's kids can be vaccinated against the disease worse than AIDS or Ebola called right-wing Fundamental ist Christianity.
" I cover them with pray, rebuke the.."
The line break keeps causing me to read "cover them with pray and puke..."
Which comes down to the same thing, anyway.
Funnily enough, I live in an African country where most moms do the very same choice. And in the end of the year, more than 60% of the children born dies before even reaching the age of 5 months.
I really hope your children will stay healthy, because if it ever happens they catch a disease and you don't either vaccinate them or take them to the hospital (which is very likely), they'll be screwed and the only one responsible for the fuck up will be YOU.
Are you ready to risk your children's lives over a hypothetical deity?
Yes, because I'm sure that your 5 minutes of Googleing the subject makes you qualified to make that sort of desicion.
Tell me how well your prayer works when your children come in contact with Hepatitis. Or cause an outbreak of Polio - which could kill babies too young to be vaccinated. Tell me all about the 'poison' then.
"I cover them with pray"
Sounds like bug spray.
I haven't have any vaccinations either, and I'm fine. The thing is it's better for the population to be vaccinated, but it's better for the individual in that vaccinated population to not have vaccinations. There are complications from taking a vaccine. It is after all injecting a form of the disease into you. Although this was much more common when the practice of vaccination had just started. If go to somewhere like Africa, I would go and get vaccinated, but there is no need to in places without these diseases.
@ vgracebutterfly
The problem is that, because more and more people are opting out of vaccinations due to bad "science", herd immunity is starting to fail. That's why we're seeing outbreaks of illnesses that we'd all but eradicated. And when people like you, who CAN be vaccinated, choose not to do so (or choose not to have their children vaccinated), you're putting not only yourself at risk, but other people's children as well. Some children cannot be vaccinated. Some are too young, have had previous adverse reactions to vaccinations, or have compromised immune systems.
I love how you guys argue back and forth calling the other side stupid and arrogant, go ahead scream at me too.
Look fuckers, there is no good reason to get a shot protecting you from the flu. Let your body fight it naturally, and you'll develop a healthy immune system not dependent on pharmaceuticals, the way our ancestors did it. If you die, then you die. Natural selection, welcome to reality. Plus, I have no way of knowing whether I or my children would have an adverse reaction to the shot, or even what all is in it.
I'd much rather take my chances without the 'help'. If I get too sick there is always Robitussin.
@Haha:
Assuming that you are not simply trolling:
The whole point of herd immunity is that it protects _everybody_. Giving the flu vaccine to people who could fight off the disease ensures that they don't give it to those who can't. This is why I get annual flu shots (and even the H1N1 vaccine): I meet a lot of at-risk people. It is also why I get very mad at people who refuse vaccination - they are not just putting themselves at risk, but also everybody else that they meet.
The US and other governments subsidize flu vaccinations _because it saves lives and makes money_. Wikipedia quotes that herd immunity saves people from dying from the seasonal flu at about the rate of one life per thousand vaccinations. That is a great return on the government's investment, even without counting the increase in GDP from people taking fewer sick days.
If someone were being strict about risk management, they could justify reckless endangerment on the part of people who refuse to be vaccinated in full knowledge of the true incidence of side effects and of herd immunity. Every time you refuse the annual flu vaccine, there is about a 0.1% chance of somebody's grandparent dying as a result. That means a few percent chance over your lifetime. Guilt-tripped yet?
And if you are worried about what is in the vaccine, you can read the informational material that gets distributed with every dose. Merck and the rest of big pharma can't get away with lying on that. The current anti-vaccination movement is based on a few studies that have been entirely discredited many many times.
That's right, you bright spark, lower the populations immunity. Praying will not prevent rheumatic fever, or whooping cough, and measles still kills and causes other problems.
Visiting an Anti-Vax or Creationist site isn't research, you fuqwit.
So, it's early death for your children (or worse yet; their friends). Have fun explaining to the parents of your kid's school-mate, who couldn't be vaccinated due to medical reasons, that their kid is DEAD because you prefer religious mumbo-jumbo over medical science.
Apparently, based on your "research", God promises to keep your kids healthy, while not giving even one iota of fuck about the kids in Sub-Saharan Africa who are starving to death right now.
She's praying too, I bet. Much, much harder than you ever will.
image
It's the viruses and bacteria that are the poisons, not the prevention. Your conscience is bad.
What if a dad chooses to vaccinate? A child usually has two parents, right?
As more almost eradicated DEADLY diseases return in the wake of antivaxx movement, and antibiotic resistance gets worse, more and more countries will have laws against non-vaccinated kids in kindergartens and schools. Vaccinations only work properly if most people are vaccinated.
Confused?
