Another valid point to consider is....where was all the outrage over water boarding when Bush authorized this????
Can you answer that? No?...I didn't think so.
Hmmmm, where was Nancy Pelosi and these self-righteous Dems when this was being implemented. Why were they silent on this???? Can't answer? I didn't think so.
There wasn't a peep out of them and by their SILENCE they gave it their support.
This hue and cry to punish and villify the Bush administration is a TOOL being used by 0bama and the liberal left to throw more chaos and fear into people in general and in ANYONE legally charged by a sitting president to do things most of us would find distasteful.
Personally, I believe that our warriors will in the future have to extract whatever information they can get from a combatant, then kill him and leave his body on the field. Dead men tell no tales nor bring lawsuits to bear.
I hope the tre-hugging pacifists can live with the eventuality of what punishing our protectors is going to bring about.

Well, there was a reason they were referred to as the "secret torture" memos.
Other than that, waterboarding was clearly an issue when Bush was president or we wouldn't have had the Republican primary debate where McCain flat out called it torture and condemned anyone who said otherwise. You know, McCain, the guy you most likely voted for...
IF our soldiers can do it, their soldiers can do it to ours.
And you just gave them the justification to do it.
Oh, yes, all that outrage you kept whining was "unpatriotic", and kept insisting we had to do "anything necessary" to get information out of these ebil MUSLIMS...
Doesn't matter what we do, you fucktards are never gonna be happy.
Personally, I believe that our warriors will in the future have to extract whatever information they can get from a combatant, then kill him and leave his body on the field.
Surprisingly, if I was to run into you on the battlefield, that is probably exactly what I would do.
I've been saying it's wrong for as long as there've been hints that it's been going on. While that does mean that it was going on for longer than I've been saying it's wrong, that doesn't alter my position.
If the fundies can spell it "0bama," then I can safely spell it, Bu$h, right?
I'm starting to get worried here, do they actually believe that if the stuck their fingers in their ears and sang, "La la la la la la la I'm not listening" when anybody complained or wrote off any criticism of Bu$h and his administration unpatriotic that means that nobody complained?
"Hmmmm, where was Nancy Pelosi and these self-righteous Dems when this was being implemented. Why were they silent on this???? Can't answer? I didn't think so. "
They were told about this in a classified briefing, therefore they could not talk about it. Hmmmmm, why didn't you know this? Can't answer? Didn't think so.
"Another valid point to consider is....where was all the outrage over water boarding when Bush authorized this"
Not a valid point because
a) Bush authorized it without Congressional approval, and
b) It was already known of before he left office, and there was outrage.
Dumbass.
Just as usual you ignore the parts of the story that don't fit into your slander of the President. Obama has said repeatedly that he will NOT ALLOW prosecution of the soldiers. They were only following orders that had been reviewed and approved as legal by people within the Bush Administration and the Justice Department.
The current review is to see whether charges are merited against those people who approved those orders and certified them as being legal. I think that is the correct and fair way to handle this, leave the soldiers alone and go after the bureaucrats and lawyers. Even if anyone is charged I will be amazed if anyone gets any jail time out of this. Lets face it, politicians look out for each other, usually even when they have done something vile.
I'll settle for seeing them dragged thru the mud and their names dishonoured if that is all that ends up happening. At least it will make the next sadistic bastard think twice before signing off on bullshit orders as being legal.
Oh yeah, one more thing, your great god Bush who can do no wrong?...he seriously fucked up this time. All he had to do was issue a blanket pardon before leaveing office for any and all offenses related to enemy combatants. But he was either too chicken or too stupid to do so, so once again he left his own people hanging in the wind.
Honestly the man is a cretin, an imbecile, a moron if you will, I can see why you like him so much. After all you two have so much in common...
Because you had your fingers in your ears?
Because you were too busy yelling "YOU ARE UNPATRIOTIC" at us to hear what we were saying?
Because your memory sucks?
[...where was all the outrage over water boarding when Bush authorized this????]
Where the hell have you been? Waterboarding became public during the Bush administration, and as soon as it did, the country went apeshit over it.
It was a major point during the election, and McCain and Obama both commented on the issue. More than once. Sorry you missed it.
As for the rest of your post--you're an ignorant, bloodthirsty maniac. Do us all a favor and never serve in a public office, OK?
"There wasn't a peep out of them and by their SILENCE they gave it their support."
There wasn't a peep out of you when I posted about your g0d being imaginary, either, so by your silence I am assuming you support my view.
Does anyone know why fundies spell Obama with a zero?
Do they believe if they say Obama will he appear and consume their souls or something?
1. They get a childish sense of satisfaction out of disrespecting him by not using his correct name.
2. They think that using zeros instead of O or writing it O b a m a will defeat any bot searching for people dissing him on the internet. Apparently it hasn't occurred to them that the "bot" would be programmed with all variations--YES, THAT MEANS YOU'RE ALL DOOMED ANYWAY MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA
We shouldn't torture, period.
That being said, no trials, let's just move on. We aren't gonna get the guys truly responsible, we will just get another Lindy Englund.
I hope the tre-hugging pacifists can live with the eventuality of what punishing our protectors is going to bring about.
I hope your grand-kids can live with the thing people like you have unleashed on our society, and with the fact they'll likely be tortured if captured during the course of a war - all because you are a short-sighted coward without enough brain power to realize that a) torture is wrong, and b) it doesn't work, anyway.
Actually, waterboarding has been controversial for a very long time. This dimwit obviously doesn't read any news beyond possibly Fox News.
He doesn't even do that much Some of the pundits at FOX were on the wrong side of this issue, but they most certainly did talk about it while Bush was in office.
This jack-ass is simply pulling easily-debunked "facts" from his rear.
Tu Quoque Fallacy.
From the Don Lindsay Archive:
"Two Wrongs Make A Right (Tu Quoque, You Too, What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander):
a charge of wrongdoing is answered by a rationalization that others have sinned, or might have sinned. For example, Bill borrows Jane's expensive pen, and later finds he hasn't returned it. He tells himself that it is okay to keep it, since she would have taken his.
War atrocities and terrorism are often defended in this way.
Similarly, some people defend capital punishment on the grounds that the state is killing people who have killed.
This is related to Ad Hominem (Argument To The Man)."
Even if he got his facts straight....
"I call on all governments to join with the United States and the community of law-abiding nations in prohibiting, investigating, and prosecuting all acts of torture..." - Official proclamation by President Bush, June 26, 2003.
"...No exceptional circumstances whatsoever, whether a state of war or a threat or war, internal political instability or any other public emergency, may be invoked as a justification of torture. . . . An order from a superior officer or a public authority may not be invoked as a justification of torture."
Convention Against Torture -- signed by Reagan in 1988, ratified in 1994 by Senate:
Typical fucking RaptureRetard - they would do ANYTHING to have kept Dumbya in the White House. Where were the Rethuglicans when Dumbya's pal John Ashcroft inplemented the vile 'Patriot Act' to authorize spying on its own people? Where were the Rethuglicans when then-White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer threatened 'Americans had better watch what they say'? They were giving their FULL support to it, and Republicans who dared disagree were punished. Fucking fundy hypocrites.
Um...we libs WEREN'T silent when Bush authorized waterboarding, if I remember correctly.
Selective memory, anyone?
You do realize the Dems weren't in the loop?,,,oh,,you don't.
Any clue about party politics?
I guess we give it a year and these idiots will think the Democrats did all that bad stuff we blame Bush for

But that follows on from Jesus telling the disciples to buy swords in Luke 22:36 ...he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one. . Not until he realized they were outnumbered did he back down.

Personally, I consider your idea of 'Christian warriors' (or at least 'American warriors') to be absolutely undeniably .. ooops, I almost godwinned.
tre-hugging
I hope this was a simple error, I really hope that WickIsTrimmed doesn't know how to spell his favorite redneck insult. Oh, how I hope that.

Which makes perfect sense, you're much more likely going to die to your oppononents sword when you're outnumbered. Maybe Jesus didn't mean it as an over-arching commandment but just something in that context... also sometimes it's okay to die by the sword if it achieves something... fighting the temple gaurd and romans at the point would not have, even if Jesus wanted to be free.
Another valid point to consider is....where was all the outrage over water boarding when Bush authorized this????
Can you answer that? No?...I didn't think so
Then you are wrong, I can answer that. When the details of the US torture program were made public there was pleanty of outrage, you just chose to ignore that outrage or call it "unpatriotic".
Hmmmm, where was Nancy Pelosi and these self-righteous Dems when this was being implemented. Why were they silent on this???? Can't answer? I didn't think so.
Once again, I can answer that. Pelosi and the so-called "gang of eight" were notified that "enhanced interrorgation techniques" had been authorized, they were not given details as to what those "enhanced techniques" were comprised of. They were also unable to speak out due to the classified nature of the briefing and the violation of both ethics and law.
[iThere wasn't a peep out of them and by their SILENCE they gave it their support.]
As opposed to your vocal and vocifirous endorsement of torture.

... Maybe he was referring to Tre Cool from Green Day?
Any post containing any of the following phrases (or variants thereof) should be ignored:
- Where is the outrage?
- Why do you hate America?
- Won't somebody think of the children?
- Why isn't the media reporting this?
- What has happened to society?
- I want my country back.
"Personally, I believe that our warriors will in the future have to extract whatever information they can get from a combatant, then kill him and leave his body on the field. Dead men tell no tales nor bring lawsuits to bear."
Well, that would be a war crime, and US soldiers or soldiers from any other nation who commit war crimes would be liable for trial. Whether the US government would give them up for trial is another matter. Bush showed that he didn't give two shits for international law, but at least Obama seems to be doing things differently, although granted he's only been in the job five minutes and it's a bit early to judge him.
Re: This Thread
1) Maybe the reason was that Bush "Classified" said documents, to prevent the public outcry if they were published at the time...
2) If you do not tell them, that such acts are being illegally committed, then they will not protest...
3) And presumably you will not protest, when U.S troops are tortured & executed in a similar manner by the opposition, in any future conflict...?
Methinks you will be amoungst the first, to scream, that the opposition's bases should be turned into radioactive glass, as "that's the only language that these animals will understand...".
Personally, I believe that our warriors will in the future have to extract whatever information they can get from a combatant, then kill him and leave his body on the field. Dead men tell no tales nor bring lawsuits to bear.
yeah and when enemy soldiers do the same thing to captured troops claim they are evil and are breaking the law. the rules of war were placed to protect soldiers, your side breaks the rules nothing is stopping the other side, which is not always going to be an unorganized insurgency, from doing the same.
ps i'm sure everyone can feel the christian love in this post.
