Quote# 62268

[Distind Note to clear things up:
Yes, there are atheist fundies. Just because I agree with your basic stance doesn't mean you can't still manage to be an idiot, or even a fundie. You'll note the explicit mention that one does not have to be religious to be a fundie in the definition found in the FAQ]

Eric Conway is a twit and shouldn't be allowed to think, he might give himself a hernia. All religions, including Catholicism, are evil and immoral, encourage non-thinking and obedience to the words of mentally insane old men. Old men who are filthy in mind and scrabulously deranged. Old men who condone the scribblings of older generations of demonic goat-molesters and propagate their sheer ignoble idiocies through asinine speech or moronic drivel masquerading as religious text.

Religion is especially harmful to children and governments, and should be decried at every opportunity, even banned.

Jeez, man, there's critique and then there's overkill. Take a deep breath and count to ten.

Just... wow... people like you are why we atheists have a seriously bad rep among the faithful and harmless. Congrats on being a fundie. I hope you enjoy it.

I'm glad to see I wasn't the only one who saw this in the comments and thought it was too over the top.

In moderation, religion is not a bad thing.

As long as you're referring to the Pauline/Nicene blasphemy, Pule, I agree.

Fear is their primordial hook.

Don't forget the funny hats either... or their fetish for that dead radical on a stick.

And what's with these Catholic mothers? I mean, what turns healthy women into the pope's little bitches? Inquiring minds and all that.

This wasn't sarcasm in response to the "atheism should be a thought crime" quote? Wow.

Wow, I think this is the first time I have seen a fstdt comment fstdt'd.

lol what

I'm actually quite pleased to see this.

Whilst it's embarassing to see such nonsense, it's always useful to be reminded that (ideally) this site is for the purposes of facepalming at idiots of all creeds.

Poe?

Don't get me wrong, militant/fundie atheists are just as bat shit crazy as religious ones, but this seems too well composed.

(Hell I knew a bat shit crazy militant anti religious nutcase who went from atheist to Wiccan with the same amount of bat shit screaming... funny how these two posts on FSTDT are so close together... maybe she's casting spells again.)

No One: FSTDT comments get submitted and approved every so often, but generally they're people from other sites coming in to comment and talk about how we're all going to hell or some such amusing thing. This is the first time I've seen a regular FSTDT commentor's comment submitted and approved, though.

And this is the sort of thing that gives atheists their bad reputation among some religious types.

I happen to agree with the OP. I'm not seeing where anything said was false. The only line I disagree with is "even banned". I think that would make us no better than "them". But certainly, everything else is spot on.

...evil....immoral...non-thinking...obedience to the words of mentally insane old men...filthy in mind...scrabulously deranged...demonic goat-molesters...ignoble idiocies...asinine speech...moronic drivel...

So far this is pretty much a spot-on description of religion.

Religion...should be...banned.

And then you went a step too far.

"Religion is especially harmful to children and governments, and should be decried at every opportunity"

Truth.

Ok so the "even banned" line is a bit much (especially considering this was in response to the thought crime bs), but other than that I feel ya, Pule.

Now now, that's taking it too far. We don't think Religion should be opressed, we just don't want it shoved down our throats.

Someone bookmark this for the next time someone comes along to denounce FSTDT as an anti-Christian site. It's got the seed of a point in there, but the rhetoric is no different in substance from what we regularly see from any other fundies.

I'd love to see religion eradicated as much as the next person. Having said that, when you ban things it makes people covet them even more.

Oh crap... I can never hear that without thinking of Fox. Dammit!

Well, at least we're honest about the fact that we dish it out, and we can take it just as hard. They don't have that sort of decency.
