[Waterboarding]

We are dealing with sub-human terrorist murderers here. This is how you get them to talk. And talk they do. We have 5 years of success with this method.
If they don't like it, they should remember they chose this treatment when they became scum sucking mass murderers.

I'll save my sympathy for the families of their victims, thank you.

If I were a guard at Gitmo, I would volunteer to water board these animals. As a Christian, I would have NO problem with such a procedure.
My faith is not based on wimpy theology. Its based on Jesus who drove the money lenders out of the temple-with a WHIP! Jesus advised his disciples to sell their cloaks and purchase swords.

When they're not busy bitching about being persecuted, they're busy persecuting.

No, we don't. Under torture, people will say anything just to get the torturers to stop. The information they give is never trustworthy.

If they don't like it, they should remember they chose this treatment when they became scum sucking mass murderers.

How do you know they're mass murderers? How do you know they aren't only fighting because they fear for their lives? And do you think the only people who were tortured were murderers?

I'll save my sympathy for the families of their victims, thank you.

This only proves you're a douche.

...who would Jesus torture?

How many of those prisoners were simply innocent bystanders forced to confess to bullshit charges?

Boy, your faith is based on ratshit.

No, I think they thought that the US would fulfill its Geneva Convention obligations.

Unfortunately, the President at the time was a budding war criminal.

John 2:14-16

In the temple he found those who were selling oxen and sheep and pigeons, and the money-changers sitting there. And making a whip of cords, he drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and oxen. And he poured out the coins of the money-changers and overturned their tables. And he told those who sold the pigeons, "Take these things away; do not make my Father’s house a house of trade."

Yes, exactly like Gitmo. <sarcasm>

"We are dealing with sub-human terrorist murderers here."

Umm...how do you know? When and where were they judged - after all the evidence was presented - by a jury of their peers? When and where were they allowed access to the vaunted US justice system? When and where were they given a fair trial?

You're a hateful, psychopathic, wannabe torturer for jebus. He must be proud.

Yep, sub-human. Whatever helps you sleep at night you sick fuck.

And I'll let Nice Guy Eddie from Reservoir Dogs finish up for me.

We are dealing with sub-human terrorist murderers here.

But the issue is what can they tell us about what they know, not how bad they are. Torture is not effective in getting information from people. They'll just say anything you want to hear, true or not.

We have 5 years of success with this method.

We have 500 years of failure with this method. At the Salem witch trials and the Spanish Inquisition, people "confessed" to all sorts of outrageous nonsense.

Jesus advised his disciples to sell their cloaks and purchase swords.

He also advised people to love thy neighbor, and admonished one of his disciples for using a sword to strike someone's ear off . He wasn't very consistent, was he? Fundies scramble over each other to explain how this passage doesn't mean that his disciples should buy swords.

Torturing terrorists for information is about as effective as shooting your wife to keep her from cheating on you. It may solve an immediate problem, but is it really worth the sh*tstorm that will inevitably follow once people find out about it?

5/16/2009 4:17:48 PM

Fun fact: We water boarded terrorists to get information that doesn't exist.

Fun fact: In both cases we had to water board them over eighty times.

Fun fact: The captives lied to give us the information we wanted so that we would stop.

So what have we learned. We've learned that are supposedly moral right wing Christian administration was willing to commit international war crimes to start a preemptive war just so it can relive it's glory dies of WW2.
We learned that torture is incredibly ineffective as an interrogation technique.
Finally we've learned that with torture we have no guarantee that the information we do get is reliable or even correct. People who are being tortured will say anything to make it stop, and most of the time they just lie.

Also torture has the added side effect of making the people who employ look like monsters and making the people of the reigion we are trying to liberate from terrorists more likely to sympathize with the terrorists and even fight against us.

But at least we got that non-existent Iraq/Al-Queda link right?

Internet tough guy would have cowered in a corner as soon as he was deployed to Gitmo, praying to his Jebus to get him out of there.

2Apart from the sheer ineffectuality of torture, and the moral problems with it, how do you know they are "sub-human terrorist murderers"?

Many of those in Gitmo seemed to be there on dubious grounds, and none of them had received anything approaching a fair trial.

Yes, about the swords; that would be...

Luke 22:35-38

And he said to them, "When I sent you out with no moneybag or knapsack or sandals, did you lack anything?" They said, "Nothing." He said to them, "But now let the one who has a moneybag take it, and likewise a knapsack. And let the one who has no sword sell his cloak and buy one. For I tell you that this Scripture must be fulfilled in me: 'And he was numbered with the transgressors.' For what is written about me has its fulfillment." And they said, "Look, Lord, here are two swords." And he said to them, "It is enough."

It still doesn't seem like someone who would approve of torture. Self protection perhaps, but not torture.

Remember fundies, always read your bible verses in context.

Btw, you're still a sociopath MrMannn.

This tripe should be surprising but perusing RR I've begun to expect this shit from Mr. Mannn. I love how he admits he's dehumanizing them.

Yeah I hate terrorists, but I have to see more proof of the efficacy of waterboarding in attaining information before I can justify it.

(Yes I realize this means performing the unjustified act in an attempt to justify it, don't blast me)

But invoking Jesus to argue for torture is absurd.

Well it works out since torturers aren't sub human, they gave up every tiny bit of humanity.

Things that torture have no souls to save.

"And talk they do."

Doubtless. The problem is that what they tell you is useless as they only told it to you so you'd stop fucking torturing them.

Really, this was known way back in the Middle Ages. Why people like you can't get such a simple idea into your heads is quite beyond my understanding.

"We have 5 years of success with this method."

Every study ever conducted on the usefulness of intelligence gathered through "coercive" means (i.e., torture) shows that you get complete, total, absolute, unequivocal bullshit.

It's been shown, by the U.S. government no less, that simply interrogating them in the normal fashion as you would any criminal/suspect yields infinitely more useful information.

"If they don't like it, they should remember they chose this treatment when they became scum sucking mass murderers."

Such treatment of others is one of the most commonly reported reasons people become terrorists you moron.

"I'll save my sympathy for the families of their victims, thank you."

I doubt you have sympathy for anyone but yourself.

"If I were a guard at Gitmo, I would volunteer to water board these animals."

Not out of some sort of duty, I'm sure. More likely simply because you'd get some sort of perverse thrill from it.

"As a Christian, I would have NO problem with such a procedure."

Jesus would. Read you Babble.

"My faith is not based on wimpy theology."

No. Apparently it's based on never having read your fucking holy book. Or at least not having read it past the OT.

"Its based on Jesus who drove the money lenders out of the temple-with a WHIP!"

A whip? He knocked over some tables and threw a hissy fit as far as I recall.

"Jesus advised his disciples to sell their cloaks and purchase swords."

Which pretty much goes against, well, every fucking thing else he said, doesn't it?
