We are dealing with sub-human terrorist murderers here.
You can't possibly be that ignorant can you? How many prisoners at Gauntanamo Bay have been convicted of terrorism? In fact, how many of the people the US Government has accused for being terrorists have been convicted? Most of the detainees at Gitmo have ben released without charge because they were determined to not be terrorists.
What of the people that we know for a fact are terrorist? What about Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the mastermind of 9/11 and the other al-Qaeda ledership that we have in custody? We can't try them in a court, justice cannot be done on the behalf of everyone who lost a friend or family member in one of al-Qaeda's terror attacks. Do you want to know why justice is being denied? Because we tortured them.
Your attitude is what I've come to expect from people like you, you have no proble rationalizing torture because it's being done to brown people far away and since they aren't white christian it's ok. That dosen't make them "sub-human" any more the fucked in the head fundie who bombs an abortion clinic or the far right wing white supremacist who blows up a federal building. Just because you can dehumanize them make them not human.
This is how you get them to talk. And talk they do.
There has been conformation that torture has yeilded a shread of actionable information. The only thing we have is an assertion from the Bush Admin that "torture saves lives". I'm sure they did talk, someone whose being tortured will tell you anything they think you want to hear just so it will stop.
We have 5 years of success with this method.
Like what? Please name a single instance where information gained by torture has led to thwarting a terrorist attack.
If they don't like it, they should remember they chose this treatment when they became scum sucking mass murderers.
It doesn't matter whether they are mass murderers or not, torture is still illegal under US law! And for the record most of the people who we tortured at guantanamo weren't terrorists, they were people who were turned over to the US military by the Afghan Northern Alliance or the Pakistani ISI in return for a $50,000.00 bounty, who would take an deal like that to get rid of some people they don't like, I mean fuck, I have a list of people I intend to screw in just such an occasion. Others were kidnapped from foriegn countries and tortured, in a couple they knew very early on that they had the wrong person but they detained and tortured them anyway
I'll save my sympathy for the families of their victims, thank you.
And their families aren't victims? Those people, terrorist or not, were someones son, someones brother, someones father. What of the chldren whose father we kidnapped, disappeared, and held incommunicado, not even being able to let their families know what's happened to them. Are those children not victims? Of course they aren't, they are just little brown people from far away who aren't christian, and that means they aren't human beings, right?
If I were a guard at Gitmo, I would volunteer to water board these animals.
Then you would have violated you US law and your oath to the military to protect and defend the constitution, and you would be deserving of any criminal prosecution.
A soldier has not only a right, but an obligation to refuse an illegal order, Just because they call it "enhanced interrogation" doesn't mean it's not torture, the US has tried and convicted soldiers for waterboarding prisoners in the past, so what makes it right now?
As a Christian, I would have NO problem with such a procedure.
That doesn't suprise me one bit. Christians have a well documented history of torture, and of course your brand of christianity says that little brown people who do share your particular religion are not even human in the first place. What I want to know is where's the christian love? what happened to "do unto others as you would have them do unto you"? What happened to love thy neighbor? But I can gurantee one thing, if this was happening to christians then you would be sreaming PERSECUTION!!!!!! until your throat bleeds. So I guess it's really "do unto others but they can't do unto you".
My faith is not based on wimpy theology
Your right, your faith seems to be based around exta biblical fanfic.
Its based on Jesus who drove the money lenders out of the temple-with a WHIP!
And just how does that make it good and righteous to torture people? Oh yeah, how could I forget... Brown people + Overseas - Christian = not human
Jesus advised his disciples to sell their cloaks and purchase swords.
Once again, so what? Torture is still against US law. If what you are basically say is that torture is a good and righteous thing, therefore it was a good and righteous thing when it was done to Jesus too. You can't have it both ways, torture is either moral or immoral, so which is it?
