Having the intelligence to realise evolution happens =/= siding with atheism
"they 'think' they learned about the 2nd law of thermodynamics 'not' helping prove Evolution did NOT happen."
I'm not even sure what that sentence is supposed to be saying.

It would have been nice to have this warning at the top.

Rat of Steel
WTF is with this belief that "scare quotes" can "help" a fundie's bullshit "facts" seem even remotely "legitimate"? What's more, they're "used" in mostly all the wrong "places".
*rolls his eyes*
5/18/2009 3:52:41 AM
FOR THE LAST TIME, THERMODYNAMICS DON'T WORK THAT WAY! Sorry for the caps lock.
Kid, if you really want to teach creationism, you have to include EVERY SINGLE story of creation from every fucking religion on earth.
5/18/2009 3:59:47 AM
"they 'think' they learned about the 2nd law of thermodynamics 'not' helping prove Evolution did NOT happen"
Ok. So a double negative implies a positive, whereas, quotation marks would be a sarcastic implication of the opposite of the usual meaning, thus this sentence actually reads:
"They know they learned about the 2nd law of thermodynamics really helping prove evolution did happen."
Ain't grammar grand?

No interpretation of the 2LOT that "proves" that evolution can't happen does not also prove that any kind of biological growth is impossible.
So ironically, any fundie claiming evolution breaks the 2LOT is living proof that he is wrong.

May I have Ranch dressing?
5/18/2009 4:36:43 AM
Correct. In 2009 we have a wealth of scientific knowledge about how the universe works and none of it involves the supernatural. Your Genesis story is just that - a story.
5/18/2009 4:36:49 AM
While I don't doubt that there may be some scientists who might have an interest in proving the existence of god and/or some mythological tale of creation, I don't know how much has actually been proven.
If you're saying that the flash of light that happened as a result of the Big Bang is the scientific equivalent to god saying "Let there be light," then that's a huge leap by just about any standards.
I don't know the details, but isn't there a Chinese creation myth that says that the universe is expanding -- something Genesis definitely does not do?
5/18/2009 4:37:25 AM
OBW, please point your finger at this huge wealth of scientific evidence you're claiming exists.
I thought not.
5/18/2009 4:39:39 AM
Sure 200 years ago someone may not have known genesis was only a myth, but in 2009 we have a huge wealth of scientific enlightenment constantly verifying that genesis is full of shit. But fundies are still living in the 15th century. Stupid.
5/18/2009 4:42:30 AM
but in 2009 we have just a huge wealth of scientific enlightenment constantly verifying Genesis.
What drugs do you take?
Must be much more potent stuff than LSD ;)
5/18/2009 4:43:28 AM
I'm OriginalBigWhite, I have the internet! Because I have the internet and some faith that means I know more than the scientists who dedicate their lives to their expertise because they lack faith and are just poopyheads conspiring to bring down religion just 'cos they're evil and stuff and hate that religion is true and stuff. I'm so sure that all the really well trained and experienced people are wrong and the small pocket of religion I worship is right!
5/18/2009 4:52:47 AM
'in 2009 we have just a huge wealth of scientific enlightenment constantly verifying Genesis.'
5/18/2009 5:03:58 AM
Name one piece of evidence that "verifies" Genesis.
It is not a requirement to accept evolutionary theory to be an atheist. It is not a requirement to vigorously deny evolutionary theory to be a Christian. And the second law DOESN'T prove evolution didn't happen, being concerned with closed systems. (In fact, evolution happens all the time; you might want to quit with the bait and switch words.)
5/18/2009 5:33:48 AM
"Huge wealth of scientific enlightenment constantly verifying Genesis.."
It must be filed away along with all of the evidence verifying the existence of unicorns and Xenu.
Apparently it comforts them in some way to tell themselves that the only people who believe in evolution are atheists, like even they know they look crazy compared to mainstream religions.

Lying for Jebus.
Sounds like a 13 year old wrote it.

I've seen this guy's posts, he's like an Ourobourus with his head up his ass.
5/18/2009 6:25:00 AM
...but in 2009 we have just a huge wealth of scientific enlightenment constantly verifying Genesis.
On what alternate earth might that be?
5/18/2009 6:33:41 AM
[...but in 2009 we have just a huge wealth of scientific enlightenment constantly verifying Genesis.]
5/18/2009 6:36:31 AM
Ah yes, all that scientific evidence we have today that proves our cherished myths, except for the heretical science which doesn't.
5/18/2009 6:45:33 AM
The drivel spewed by AIG, Kent Hovind and the banana waving, Kirk Cameron, et al, do not equal a wealth of scientific enlightenment.
5/18/2009 6:47:36 AM
"Sure, 200 years ago someone may not have been able to know much about Genesis being an accurate historical document,"
Even 200 years ago there were people saying it was bullshit.
"but in 2009 we have just a huge wealth of scientific enlightenment constantly verifying Genesis."
"So its hard to believe any genuine sincere Christian could knowingly side with Atheism with few facts or because.."
What the fuck does atheism have to do with your book being fucking wrong about its description of reality?
"of all the stupid things.. they 'think' they learned about the 2nd law of thermodynamics 'not' helping prove Evolution did NOT happen."
Try it again. This time in English if you don't mind.
5/18/2009 7:02:57 AM
We actually have a wealth of scientific enlightenment constantly verifying the Big Bang, abiogenesis, and evolution. The evidence verifying Genesis is very elusive, as we've yet to find it.
