Quote# 62668

Or the praying mantis, the female eats the male after they mate. Yea, we are people, not animals, we are created in God's image, and homosexuality is an abomination and is not natural, it's an immoral lifestyle choice. PERIOD.

And by saying that, you're just making our Lord Mantis God angrier and angrier!

Translation: So like bugs eat each other and OMFG GAYS ARE TEH SUK

Seriously, what's the first part have to do with the second part?

5/28/2009 9:09:01 AM

Paschal Wagner

So you're saying we should... eat gay people? Have sex with mantises? Pray while we kill our spouses?

5/28/2009 9:14:35 AM

Lunar-Xero

What does a Praying Mantis have to do with gays? Wait I'm not dumb enough to understand fundie logic

5/28/2009 9:18:27 AM

emau99

So we're not animals...because our wives don't eat us?

I think you need to check your dictionary again.

Actually, praying mantises in the wild have a much lower rate of sexual cannibalism than praying mantises in captivity. They'll sometimes still do it, but it's not inevitable. It's actually not even inevitable for captive praying mantises, just more common.

And bug sex is probably the one thing in the universe that anyone trying to prove an "intelligent" designer should stay far away from. I could tell you things about bugs' reproductive lives that would make Fred Phelps think human homosexuality is normal.

5/28/2009 9:30:42 AM

Osiris

So what does this have to doing with mantis'?

5/28/2009 9:42:21 AM

"And bug sex is probably the one thing in the universe that anyone trying to prove an "intelligent" designer should stay far away from. I could tell you things about bugs' reproductive lives that would make Fred Phelps think human homosexuality is normal."

Like how male spiders have to charge up their faces with sperm in order to impregnate the female spiders?

Oh, and they too run the risk of becoming a post-coital snack.

We higher life forms just smoke in bed....

5/28/2009 9:42:37 AM

Deciding between a life without sex and horrible face eating death would be a hard choice. I don't envy the male mantis.

Yes, I'd like the word salad with bullshit dressing, please.

I'm sure to you, and others like you, this looked like a logical argument, but to those of us without a cognitive disorder this looks like the deluded ranting of a fuckwit.

So, if I'm wading the right direction through the Great Non Sequitur Swamp here, you hate sex between the same gender but you're OK with cannibalism? Is that because you ritually eat your god?

Alternatively, if we're not part of the animal kingdom, why are you worried about what's "natural?"

5/28/2009 9:55:46 AM

EvoPagan

Eating your mate after sex is an immoral lifestyle choice? Shoot.

*goes out to kick rocks*

Cox & Dicks

Hi Dicks here. Cox is busy shaving at the moment so I'll just fill in until he's ready. As members of Gays4God, me and Cox can tell you that God loves all homosexuals, in fact He loves everyone. Though He's not too keen on hate mongers and bigots. I think He's reserving some sort of special place for them along side the zealots and child abusers.

Oh! Here he is now. "Ta da! What do you think Dicks. Show him him girls." Les and Bianca opened their bathrobes. "I must say, Cox. You've done a pretty good job there. Well Done. Very creative indeed."

Well, while Cox has been busy shaving the girls, I've been busy finding bible verses. And this is what I've found:-

1 Kings 7:15-19

15 For he cast two pillars of brass, of eighteen cubits high apiece: and a line of twelve cubits did compass either of them about.
16 And he made two chapiters of molten brass, to set upon the tops of the pillars: the height of the one chapiter was five cubits, and the height of the other chapiter was five cubits:
17 And nets of checker work, and wreaths of chain work, for the chapiters which were upon the top of the pillars; seven for the one chapiter, and seven for the other chapiter.
18 And he made the pillars, and two rows round about upon the one network, to cover the chapiters that were upon the top, with pomegranates: and so did he for the other chapiter.
19 And the chapiters that were upon the top of the pillars were of lily work in the porch, four cubits.

etc... er, I mean, Ah-men (and women too)

Well, you can't say fairer than that.

More soon, Love Dicks.

Clearly it is natural, since it occurs in nature, which is pretty much the definition. Lots of things are natural, that doesn't make them right wrong (that's the "naturalistic fallacy"), just natural.

Clearly we are animals, since we have all the characteristics that are used to define the term "animal". Beyond that, we are vertebrates (chordates) because we have a spine, mammals because we produce milk (some of us, anyway), primates because we have finger and toe nails, and hominids because of our teeth and tools.

Conversely, to say we were created "in God's image" makes no sense. Why did God have ears before there was anything to hear, or a nose before there was anything to smell, or eyes before he created light, or legs before there was anywhere to walk, or hands before there was anything to touch, or nipples when there was nothing to suckle? What does God eat that he needs teeth and a stomach, or an anus?

5/28/2009 10:20:29 AM

Godbuster

wait, how is a female eating a male an argument AGAINST homosexuality?

5/28/2009 10:26:52 AM

Are you suggesting that after gay men have sex, one of them cannibalizes the other one?

I see the RRs are having another hate fest. Geez, when I was a Christian, the only thing I ranted about on-line was pop culture.

Even cooler is that sometimes the praying mantis eats the male WHILE they mate. Chews his head right the fuck off.

God thought of that by the way.

Okay, I'm still trying to figure out how a connection is made between a Praying Mantis cannibalizing it's partner, and Homosexuality.

Nice to know that there are people out there that wish the worst on me, simply for no reason other than for what I am, and something that I had no say in, nor can change.

"Or the praying mantis, the female eats the male after they mate."

In some species while they mate, head first. The decapitated male continues to copulate.

"Yea, we are people,"

Yes indeedy.

"not animals,"

Oh but yes we are, apes every last one of us, including *ALL* of you who post on Rapture Ready. Every.Single.One. Indisputable, incontrovertible *_FACT_*.

"and homosexuality is an abomination and is not natural,"

Many other mammalian species exhibit homosexual behaviour including our closest relatives, so you're either ignorant or a liar. Which is it?

"it's an immoral lifestyle choice."

Why on Earth would anyone with even the tiniest sliver of sanity choose to be a member of a group that is held in such contempt? That is treated with such hatred and discrimination, who face the very real threat of physical violence *just* for being who they are? Would you?! You're a bigoted, hate-filled nut who uses their "faith" as an excuse to spew homophobic bile.

You're a coward, PERIOD.

5/28/2009 10:54:42 AM

What do mantises have to do with homosexuality, again? This is the worst non-sequitur EVER.

5/28/2009 11:02:11 AM

Mister Spak

If the female eating the male is normal, I prefer to be gay. EXCLAMATION POINT!!!!!
