Perfectly fine comment...Europe DID improve technologically quite a bit due to the Crusades. At no point does he say that the loss of life was a good thing.

I guess that makes the concentration camps OK, too. After all, much of what we know about hypothermia and other conditions is based on the Nazis' detailed records of the \"medical experiments\" performed on prisoners in said camps.
