Quote# 6313

I would guess that people tended to be more moral before TV really had much power - so the 50's were probably better.

He's right! Who ever heard of crimes in distant places and details of horrific murders thousands of miles away before TV? No one! Proof that TV causes crime!

How about, instead of guessing, you read a book.

I know why don't we go back to the nineteenth century before the evil stanic TV existed? After all, it's not like there were slums, poverty, economic crises, immorality and hypocrisy back then!

People didn't attend church as much as you lot think in any decade of your history, tv or not.

This "the 50's were probably better." is a dead giveaway that they have this fantasy vision of a time that never was.

"and I would have liked to know her but I was just a Kid.
The candle burned out long before, the legend never did."

I was there. No, it wasn't.

Yeah, unless you were black, or female, or gay, or pretty much anything other than a middle-aged WASP.

The TV had much more power back when it came, and was just a few channels that everyone watched. Now, when there are hundreds, thousands, of channels, and the Internet as well, TV has little or no power.

Crimes and misdemeanors have gone down on average, in most western countries. We just hear more about it now than we did back then.
