Uh, that would be commercial suicide for Pepsi... if it were true, which it isn't. And just stop with the fucking persecution complex already you whiny baby.
You live in a comfortable home, with AC, plenty to eat, and all the modern conveniences. You're guaranteed the right to worship whatever crazy notion you've got anytime you want. Your life is so far removed from persecution that you'd probably drop dead of a heart attack if somebody decided to actually bring some real persecution down on you.
Even if this did happen to somehow become reality, how exactly is it oppressing you self-centered douchebags? They aren't adding in a quick, "Oh, and Christians crave cock, lol" in between the pledge lyrics.

I was after 9/11, and an attempt at showing unity. You can't print the whole damn pledge on a can, so they chose the most important 3 words to get their point across. People freaked out back then and chain emails were all over the place.
As with all rumors, there is a small grain of truth, but nothing more. But Xians love to feel persecuted, so a grain is all they need. They can just recycle this one over and over for a fresh new feeling of persecution.

When a christian loses a chance to smear their religion in our faces, it's persecution, but when atheists and others who are oppressed by such arrogance simply ask to be treated equally, they're anti-freedom socialists who want to take over.

Like the post from Gebusi stated, whenever a secular company that is trying to reach out to every coustomer it can doesn't mention God or specifically recognize Christian observences, these people get all wound up about it.
And to think, I thought these guys are all aboard about capitalism and gaining the highest profit.
Id be more upset that the pledge was there at all. The pledge was invented by a proto-fascist who espoused an idea he called "military socialism". Less extreme authoritarians i.e. the people in charge at the time liked it as a way to get children, especially immigrant children to blindly admire the government from a young age. Until the 1940s the salute to the flag looked a lot like the Nazi and Soviet salutes.
"Under God" was added in the 1950s by Congress as a statement against "communism". The only thing it changed about the pledge was that instead of it just being a tool to indoctrinate youth into blind admiration for the government they through in religion.
hmm, the ORIGINAL pledge on a Pepsi can , great idea.
Mouthing the ALTERED pledge to satisfy the anti-communist polititions, not so good.
