[Re: Senate resolution apologizing for slavery]
I heard Hannity say something about this a longtime ago.
He said if they apologize its an admission of guilt.
and an admission of guild will lead to the blacks in this country demanding billions of Dollars from White Americans in reparations.and they will have justification in their minds for any violence they want to perpetrate on Americans.
pretty soon it will be unpolitical correct to be white.
Especially a white male.

Being a white male Southerner, though not straight and NOT xian, I feel that the apology was a step in the right direction, maybe it will help to normalize the racial tensions.
Was there ever an offical policy for or to the Native Americans? There were some bills introduced in 2007/2008 that seemed to fizzle.
While slavery is despicable and deplorable and the wholly babble a hate book for condoning it, what the genocide US Gov't tried to commit against the NAs is abominable.
Before any talk of reparations be made to slave descendants (or community investments, schools, etc.) I feel that the NA situation should be addressed first and foremost.
I recall watching a Chris Rock special on HBO and he making a joke aobut blacks thinking that they had it bad, his punchline was "When was the last time you saw an Indian (NA) family at Denny's?"

Historically the government were gulty. However that was a while ago.
There are no "slaves left alive". What the reparations are for is the apartheid.

We had an apology to the aborigines not too long ago here in Australia. It was a big day of celebration and reconciliation, and the senators drafted the deceleration of apology in such a way so that the GOVERNMENT (READ: NOT RANDOM WHITE PEOPLE YOU STUPID IDIOT!) didn't have to pay anything.
Apology's, if done correctly by government mean nothing legally and everything morally and politically.
