Well, I believe that the bible is the infallible word of God. To try and say that Genesis 1 is false is to say that God lied. To say that God lied is to say say he is not perfect. To say God is not perfect is to say that he is not God. To say that God is not God is to say he doesn't exist. To say this, is to say that Christianity, Judaism, and Islam are all just made up out of no where.

Your line of reasoning would be beautiful if you reconsidered that very first sentence.

By the way, I know quite a few Christians who don't take everything in the Bible at its literal word. They're still Christians, believe it or not. Why? Maybe they can see that the Bible, written by people who had no concept of our current scientific knowledge, wasn't meant to be a literal interpretation.

But, where did the light come from on the first day, that took care of everything through the third day? No one sems to know, as God has never provided us with a satisfactory answer. To say this proves Genesis is false is to say that God lied. "Oh, dear, I hadn't thought of that." said God, and disappeared in a puff of logic.

No, I think what the majority of Christians (e.g., Catholics and mainstream Protestants) would say is if you think Genesis 1 is false, you've misinterpreted Genesis 1. That's a lot more likely (and a lot less arrogant) than assuming you're right and the whole of science has misinterpreted reality.
