Quote# 63646

[in response to public outcry for performing an 'exorcism' on a 16 year old boy]

Where is the tolerance for a church who tried to help a young man who freely asked for help to overcome homosexual temptations?” asked Dr. Gary Cass of the Christian Anti-Defamation Commission. “No church deserves to be maligned for trying to help a troubled teen who asked for prayer.”

White homosexual activists who demand tolerance for their sexual sin have no right to defame black Christians for practicing their Constitutional religious liberty,” said Cass. “As far as we know, this young man went to church on his own prerogative and left the church physically unharmed.”

God Hates Fundies

He's not troubled jackass he's gay

Why i am not impressed?

6/30/2009 9:44:00 AM

He only thinks he's troubled because you've filled his head with that sort of bullshit for 16 years.

6/30/2009 9:49:33 AM

A serious citation check is in order here. Who / what /when / where on the White homosexual activists.

Also, this DB later in story says ""People have been delivered out of homosexual lifestyles ever since the church began," said Cass."

Proof please....

Typical cult mentality: claim to have the solution to a problem that doesn't exist.

6/30/2009 10:21:27 AM

So usually when people speak of demons, spirits and whatnot possessing people we assume they're insane but for some bizarre reason this doesn't apply to Christians. Also, I think it's pretty intolerant to say that someones sexual orientation is the result of demons.

Whether one is black or white has no bearing upon whether one has a right to speak out against physical or emotional violence. The skin color of those performing such violence in no way excuses their behavior. Stop being a racist, homophobic jackass and join the 21st century.

6/30/2009 10:27:11 AM

The difference between giving comfort to a teenager and ostracizing him for his orientation. LEARN IT.

Allegory for Jesus

Wow. Playing the race card, the "evil homos" card, and the "We have a right to be ridiculous" card all at once! I do not know how to feel right now.

6/30/2009 10:36:20 AM

Way to make a completely non-racial issue racial. Wow.

Also, how many heterosexual demons have you exorcised this month? How about asexual ones?

6/30/2009 10:50:27 AM

"“White homosexual activists who demand tolerance for their sexual sin have no right to defame black Christians"

Because as we all know there is no such thing as a Black gay person.

No, Dear Dr. this is not a race issue. Bringing up one kind of bigotry to defend another only shows how you just didn't get the whole point of the civil rights movements.

6/30/2009 11:02:22 AM

oh yeah. because only whites are homosexuals.

pulling the race card is fucking lame.

6/30/2009 11:03:15 AM

C'mere, Casshole, and let me dish out some of your own kind of "help."

6/30/2009 11:04:43 AM

Being non-Caucasian is not a free pass to act like a demented maniac and torture an obviously mentally distraught UNDERAGE CHILD.

6/30/2009 11:19:02 AM

“As far as we know, this young man went to church on his own prerogative and left the church physically unharmed.”

Because there is absolutely no mental harm involved in being told there are demons inside of you, tainting your soul by craving the cock so much. The only way to get them out, is to be held down, and screamed at by crazy ass fundies. This kid is going to need extensive therapy in a decade.

Oh, and I'll go totally go out on a limb here, and suggest that Gary isn't a real doctor.

Ya gotta admit, the average black folk tend to be a lot less accepting of homosexuality than the average white folk do.

(Except in the Bible Belt, of course. But then, a bible belter's idea of "tolerance" is putting up with Baptists who go to a different church than they do.)

@ EvoPagan :

I wouldn't call a 16-year-old a "child." There are some states where 16 is the legal Age of Consent.

6/30/2009 11:23:10 AM

When "practicing your Constitutional religious liberty" HARMS ANOTHER PERSON, your right to it fucking ENDS. That means, the second you, in the name of "god", inflict physical, psychological, or emotional harm on even one person -- a member of your cult or not -- you fucking lose your right to practice your "religion".

6/30/2009 11:24:18 AM

Old Viking

Another "doctor." Probably in pottery.

And also, what WMDKitty said.

No major medical, psychological, or scientific organization supports the claim that "homosexual temptations" are destructive, abnormal, or even changeable. In fact, there is much evidence indicating homosexuality is normal, unchangeable, and destructive only to the same extent an individual is ostracized and discriminated against for it.

So, without evidence backing your claim despite plenty of evidence backing its contrary, your church is being intolerant when it tells someone his sexual orientation is something that requires "overcoming". It does not matter if he came to you of his own volition. If he came to you wanting to kill himself, is it automatically acceptable to help him do that since he chose to come to you and ask for it?

Furthermore, tolerance, like respect, is a two way street. In other words, you must give it to deserve it. I am tolerant of your religion even though I don't agree with it, but only to the extent that you are tolerant of me. Beyond that point, intolerance is self-defense and acceptable (but only to the amount necessary to counteract yours). You still have every right to believe that homosexual behavior is immoral, and I'll fight for you to have that right till the day I die even though I am a gay man.

However, in order to have the right to push that belief on others, you must provide evidence showing its truthfulness and firm grounding in reality. This is especially true when there is evidence not only countering that belief, but also evidence showing that pushing it onto others is destructive and harmful to those individuals.

You have failed to provide this evidence.

6/30/2009 11:37:43 AM

The boy wasn't "troubled," he was just gay. The only "trouble" he had was the psychotic brainwashing job you fundies did to him.

6/30/2009 12:10:31 PM

WTF are you a doctor in? Bullshit?

You are mentally challenged person who think being homosexual is due to demons. What the hell do you expect from normally intelligent people other than contempt?

6/30/2009 12:13:44 PM

There shouldn't be tolerance for harmfull superstitions. I wonder why there still is...

6/30/2009 12:16:45 PM

Oh, there's a Christian Anti-Defamation Commission? And they're crying about not being able to persecute gays? The irony, it burns.

6/30/2009 12:48:33 PM

I don't think defamation means what you think it means.

–noun the act of defaming; false or unjustified injury of the good reputation of another, as by slander or libel; calumny: She sued the magazine for defamation of character.

1. The allegation that exorcism is only performed by backward, superstitious asshats is neither false, nor unjustified.

2. Your reputation precedes you, and it is only considered good among your brain-blasted followers.

3. Your prejudices and racism are showing.

4. "As far as we know", and qualifying "unharmed" with "physically" marks you as a weasel, to say nothing about your trying to put a racial spin on the incident. Deflection of that nature is the mark of a delusional personality.
