"they might not even have souls!"
And how would we, or even you, be able to tell the difference?

We already have things that don't act or think human - they're called christians.

Human clones already exist, we call them 'identical twins'. Do they seem to behave any different to anyone else to you?

A post from 'Travelling Through' in that thread made me laugh:There is no such word as sacreligious to scientists.
Er, there's no such word as 'sacreligious', full stop.

they might have to be 'programmed' like 'clones'
So why aren't you people jumping for joy at the idea of an army of unquestioning sheep at your command?
You're right about one thing, though; they won't have souls. Just like everyone else.

So, Dolly needed programming before she could go out and eat grass?
Plus, a sperm is only one piece of a potential future human. Something like 99.9 % of all sperms go to waste.
How do you "act human" or "think like humans"? People in different cultures act very differently and seem to think rather differently too. Not even the "yes" and "no" signs with the head is the same all over the world.
What is a soul, and how do you prove that you have one?

"Destroying an egg in a mother's womb is the most intrinsic evil and must be stopped, but if I were ever to meet someone who was a clone of another person I wouldn't regard them as human. They're unworthy scum."

Sperm were never considered humans.
Also, what you have to remember (or, most probably, learn in your case) is that identical twins are clones of each other. Do they share a soul? Is one born without a soul?
NO. They are both full-on human beings with awareness. The same would apply to artificially induced clones.

I suppose Dolly wasn't a sheep either, she just looked like one and had to be 'programmed' to act like one.

Is it like cloning the SIM card from a cellphone.

If they make a human sperm and fertilize a human egg, the resulting child will be a human. Sorry to burst your God's special snowflake bubble.
