[On the death of Walter Cronkite]
On a show about dinosaurs he once said that people descended from apes. Well, maybe you did walter, but not me.

Good for Walter Cronkite, but not for you.
What? Just say it. You know you want to say that he's in Hell for believing that.
Oh, fuck you too. So much for basic human decency, but then again, why am I expecting anything human from vultures?
Well, he wasn't entirely wrong.
However, if YOU didn't evolve from an apelike ancestor, then what DID you evolve from, hm? And can we call you human, then?
At any rate, Walter Cronkite goes and dies, and this is the one thing you remember about him out of all the stuff he did. Jeez. Myopic, much?
"he once said that people descended from apes. Well, maybe you did walter, but not me. "
... Yes. As a matter of fact, you do! In a way that is. Not the apes we know now, but our common ancestor. Our, as in us human's ancestor is the same as the other apes' ancestor somewhere in history.

It's "ape like", not just "ape". By the way, you didn't descend from an ape, you are an ape, buddy boy.
I doubt if he said any such thing. We and apes descended from a common ancestor, and the genetic makeup of humans and chimps is more than 98% identical. Based on the intelligence you display, however, it's difficult to tell what you might have descended from.
@Old Viking:
Taxonomically, that common ancestor was an ape. We're apes, chimpanzees are apes, our common ancestors were apes, their common ancestors with the branch that lead to orang-utans, gorillas and so forth were apes.
Fossil evidence for apes goes back 25 million years to Proconsul and the Miocene apes. However, genetic evidence points to an even earlier split . Apes were here for millions of years before humans arose.
Walter Cronkite will be remembered as the most trusted American in your country's history. Even an ape, Washoe, is remembered for being the first chimpanzee to be able to communicate with humans (via sign language). Darwinius masillae conclusively proves the link between both.
Whereas you Pete, will die a nobody. Forgotten. A never-has-been. Someone who never made a positive impact upon human society. Think about that. An ape is more famous than you. So yes, you wasn't descended from an ape. Because an ape is more intelligent, and has the capacity to change human lives for the better (Ham*, the first chimp in space. 'Cheeta', for starring with Johnny Weismuller in the "Tarzan" films, thus entertaining people; Jiggs, who played Cheeta has a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame)
*- Hell, even a dog is more famous than you: Laika, the first Terran lifeform in space.
Guess you're not people then, Petie.
Wasn't there a time when you DID NOT SPEAK ILL OF THE DEAD! Politeness and common decency seems to have been outdated.
Confused?
