Quote# 64397

A human has 23 chromosomes. One of the vegetables has 11...does that make the vegetable half a human (or there abouts)? It must, considering your logic.

Uh, no. Also, we have 23 pairs, or 46, not 23.

Logic does not work like that. I thought we had more than 23 chromosomes? More like 23 PAIRS of chromosomes.
There are different "messages" in each chromosome, half the amount won't make anything half human, as the messages are different. A book with half the amount of pages as the Bible does not make it half a Bible. Stephen King's the Green Mile is not half a Bible, and neither is his The Stand more than a Bible. (On secon thought, it's more entertaining, and it has an Appocalypse theme with the Good fighting the Bad; it probably IS more than a Bible.)

Ah, the level of stupidity is almost contagious. .

Miss Bianca: 'Supersport dahling, we mice have 42 chromosomes. You humans have 46. Does that mean you're a mouse? We have as near as dammit the same number. And the Indian Fern is a superior lifeform to you humans, indeed to every other living thing, as it has 200 chromosomes. It must, considering your logic.'

Humans have 46 chromosomes. You happen to have 47.

Actually humans have 46 chromosomes.

and number of chromosomes does not necessarily indicate how closely related the organism is to humans.

But of course, this is stuporshort so I waste my time trying to explain science.

That's an interesting thought, actually.

First time I've ever agreed with Supersport about anything. Human has 23 pairs of chromosomes, vegetable with 11 pairs is half a human in terms of the number of chromosomes it has!
(I can see why Supersport finds this exceptionable, it's not just science, he doesn't do math either.)

sigh

Genetics doesn't work that way.

A human has (assuming no genetic disorders) 46 chromosomes. 46/2 =/= 11, and even if it did, that doesn't actually have anything to do with anything.

"It must, considering your logic."

Sounds like this wasn't the fundy speaking literally, but rather making a rebuttal against someone else's comment.

Lets begin with the most glaring fact:

This topic is far to complex for someone of your "intellect" to fully... wait, ... Sorry, I thought there was a chance you might have opened a 9th grade biology book and retained something other than goddidit. Fail on my part.
