While I agree that this is a completely sick viewpoint, I can also see that, WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF THEIR BELIEF, this statement holds together. It is way better for a person to be a slave for a lifetime than to be in hell for eternity. After all, as time approaches infinity, all finite time approximates zero. And the point could be easily made that the OP's ancestors would have never been "saved" (forcibly or otherwise) had there not been american slavery.
Of course I find his whole statement repugnant, but it is the anti-life theology from which it springs that is the real tragedy.

I assume your ancestors weren´t as thankful as yourself to have to live a life in slavery and I assume you wouldn´t be so thankful as well, if you were still in the same situations as your ancestors, instead of being able to live your life as a free man.

I cannot believe this. Perhaps you should take a stroll on the river walk in Savannah, Georgia where a sculpture of newly arrived slaves are depicted. You know, small children torn from their parents and husband and wife torn from each other. These people actually had their mouth and teeth examined like a damn horse buyer. Since they were considered nothing but cattle I guess the buyers didn't think they'd miss one another. It truly will punch you in the stomach. Those folks would not agree with you. Of all the things that are horrid, being ripped from your children is one and not being able to do a damn thing. I doubt many folks black or white would agree with you.
