Quote# 64998

Here we got people who murder, and rob people on the streets. These people are receiving jail time because of prayers. Just confirms my belief the Bible is true because why be so mad about it. They know they have their liberal agenda in these schools but we can't complain about that.

Yes, sure, Christians are so very oppressed in America. Whatever you say.

Oh, and the original article is from OneNewsNow so I'm sure that it isn't slanted in any way.

So... the Bible is true because people don't want the religion of others shoved down their throats? Okay. Sure. Why not?

Although it is good to know that when you go to a school function where someone leads a Muslim prayer, you're either not going to be mad at all, or your anger is going to somehow make it so that the Koran is true.

A leads to B. B confirms my belief that P is true because X isn't E, and therefore must be Q because liberals are bad.

Seems pretty simple to me, Court Order says no leading group prayer while at work, they led a group prayer at work, ergo contempt of Court. In a very Germanic way; they knew the rules, they broke them, they must face the consequences (why does this remind me of the justification fundies use for hell?).

Whether the Court Order was right or wrong is a different question and requires knowledge of the facts and their context in the original case, but I doubt that will appear on RR or anything that they read...

No, the people in the case I presume you're babbling on about aren't facing jail time for praying. They're facing contempt charges for defying a court order. One that said that they can't lead prayers in their own schools. They acknowledged they broke the law, agreed not to do it, then continued to do it. That is very different from "receiving jail time because of prayers."

Let's see. Two sentences that fall apart due to tragically unproven causation. A sentence that murders its internal logic half way through. Digression into politics.

A model example of how to build a RR post, I see.

I am freaking begging you to speak proper English. Then maybe - just maybe - we could make some sense of what the hell you are talking about.

I'm sorry.....what people are being jailed because of prayers? $50 says you're making the whole thing up or grossly distorting the facts. Actually, fuck the $50, I bet my immortal soul on that.

"Here we got people who murder, and rob people on the streets. These people are receiving jail time because of prayers."

Name someone who went to jail just for praying.

"These people are receiving jail time because of prayers."

That's a name I've never heard for the justice system before.

Edit: Oh, you mean you think someone's being jailed for their religion. Yeah, no.

Probably not serious jail time, however, if they pray and act in a disorderly manner they deserve to be arrested, just as anybody else.

Here is an example from Virginia http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp504.exe?000+cod+18.2-415

The rule is very simple: If you're a public employee on public property or at a public supported function, you can't use your position to proselytize your Christian Protestant religious beliefs. That's the law.

They're not threatened with legal action because of prayers. They're threatened with legal action because they knew the law and deliberately broke it. If they don't like the law, let them exercise their democratic rights under the First Amendment to "petition the government for redress of grievance" to change the First Amendment's Establishment Clause. Then we'll all vote on it. If they succeed, they can have all the prayers they want. Until then, they have to obey the law (or move to England, where Christian public prayer is allowed).

they have their liberal agenda in these schools but we can't complain about that.

You can complain about it all you want. You can change it if you can. You can't just ignore the law and do what you want.

These people are receiving jail time because of prayers.

Well there you go. We can save tons of money in budgets by shutting down all the police forces and court systems. All we need are the nutters prayer circles, and people will just pop into their prison sales.

Edit:
I know that English isn't a fundies first language (seems that gibberish, or as they call it, speaking in tongues is), but fuck what a way to screw around the wording.

Anyway, no these people are not going to jail because they pray. Take two self-flagellations and call me in the morning.

No, I'm pretty sure they're receiving jail time because they were found guilty in a court of law.

Just confirms my belief the Bible is true because why be so mad about it.

It may confirm your belief, but the U.S. doesn't base their on your bible. If that was the case, innocent people such as homosexuals, rebellious children, and witches would be stoned to death.

They know they have their liberal agenda in these schools but we can't complain about that.

But Stumpebutwefall, you do have options. Either homeschool your kids or put them in a private christian school where your children can learn good christian values.
