Quote# 65054

(Emphasis mine)

Though I agree that they have freedom of speech and equal access, the Quakers message of peace is a bit skewed according to Scripture. You don't gain peace by laying down your sword. You gain peace by using your sword until there are no more enemies in front of you. Having said that, understand also that war is a last resort when all other diplomatic, peaceful solutions have failed.

Considering your principles, that means always.

Yeah, all this "love your enemies" and "do good to those that hate you" stuff is for pussies.

Strange, I don't remember the verse in which Jesus says that.

I guess after you have killed everyone that disagrees with you, there would be peace - for a little while.

Until you start fighting amongst yourselves.

Having said that, you just revealed that you're a psycho. Yeah, if you kill everyone things sure would be a lot more peaceful!

In other words..diplomacy to you is giving your "enemies" an ultimatum; "Believe and live your life as I do or perish by my sword"

Well,if he talks about the old testament stuff, he is right...
the god of the old testament had no scruples about ordering the israelites to go to war and to commit genocides
if I remember correctly there was even a military leader who was punished by god, because he spared some of the women (not virgin) of the defeated tribe instead of killing them all as god had ordered ;)

And we all know, that christian fundamentalists usually have moe love for the mindset shown in the old testament than for the mindset of the alleged founder of their religion according to the new testament ;)

"I'm sorry my friend, you've been so misled. You don't know Jesus at all"

I forget who wrote that song, but it just fits perfectly in this situtation.
That "peace by the sword" was the tool of Rome, the very people Jesus was so set against!

As shocking as it is to decent human sensibilities, I can't really call this fundamentalist. This is the basic Christian definition of peace; the elimination, by conversion or conquest, of non-Christians. A treaty that permits the (non-Christian) enemy to continue existing alongside the Christian is a compromise with evil. That's why the Antichrist, in Revelations, will be called a peacemaker, and why Jesus, the Prince of Peace, will make his return by killing everyone who rejects Him.

That being said, Enlightenment humanism has neutered Christianity significantly - note the mushy 'war is a last resort' qualifier - so very few Christians actually follow the definition of peace that their book requires of them. Islam, OTOH, still clings to the old "kill 'em all and let Allah sort 'em out" style.
