I'm going to get my hearing aid fixed tomorrow. The hearing aid itself is worth about £1,500. I get to have it for free. It'll get fixed in about 20 minutes, including waiting time. I don't have to pay for that, either, other than my National Insurance contributions I have paid all my working life, which I can well afford.

Terrible, innit.

Aagh, another double post.

Perhaps the Post Office could be run by Moist von Lipwig?

you know. Privatized healthcare quite often denies service depending on how cost-effective it is. Therefore, nothing will be different.

If you die after 65, as hopefully you will, the chances are you'll already be covered by a government plan. It's called Medicare. They don't have "death panels", deny service or put you on waiting lists. You have them confused with CIGNA, Aetna, Humana, US Healthcare and Blue Cross.

Christians and conservatives DO view people as human beings, but they view them specifically as evil human beings who deserve hellfire for all eternity.

Also, I find it highly amusing that the majority of corrupt CEOs vote Republican, yet apparently it's the liberals who see people as just numbers and cash.

Most insurance companies have most of their customers on waiting lists. What do you think will happen with insurance companies when they're making less profit? I don't get how people don't realize that nothing will change, except that there will be 50 million Americans who have health care, when they previously had not.

Yes, indeed...for the godawful sum of a few bucks off each paycheck, you don't have to choose between staying in a warm house, or being treated. It is to stand in awe, and weep at the travesty.

They don't need death panels to accomplish this.

The only people who are talking about "death panels" are reactionary conspiricy theorists who haven't even bother to so much as glance at the legeslation proposed.

They can deny service or put you on a "waiting list" indefinitely, essentially signing your death certificate.

You mean just like private insurence companies do? Like the insurance company that decided after 40+ years of paying premiums that my grandfather's cancer was a "pre-existing condition" and refused to pay for treatments that he could not afford on his own, leaving him to die slowly and in horrible agony while his family could do little more than watch? Fuck you and fuck your desire to deny healthcare to those who cannot afforde such things on their own.

The government does not view us as human beings,

The "government" is not a single self aware entity with an opinion of it'd own. The "government doesn't "veiw" anyone as anything.

Christians and conservatives view people as human beings, government and liberals view us as a number/dollar amount.

First off, you don't get to define how anyone other than yourself views anything. Secondly, If liberals only view people as a number or dollar amount then why are they always the ones of the forefront of every single civil/human rights movements? You never see conservative christians speaking out for equal rights for oppressed minorities, in fact they are the ones who oppose such things.

The government can't even operate the post office successfully.

So would you care to explain why, with the execption of the past 3-4 years, that the USPS has operated at a profit since a couple of years it was established?

They are going to close down 100 posts offices.

And there is a recession currently going on, not to mention the post office has seen a distinct drop in business with the advent of relatively free and instant e-mail. Thats not government mismanagement, it's industry downturn.

What do you think is going to happen with government run hospitals when money gets even tighter?

No one is trying to implement government run healthcare, just government subsidized health insurance, and regardless of what you want people to believe they are not the same thing. In one system the government manages the day to day operations of all healthcare facilites, and in the proposed system the government simply picks up the tab and pays for all healthcare needs of the citizens.

>>"The government does not view us as human beings, Christians and conservatives view people as human beings, government and liberals view us as a number/dollar amount."

Is that so? Then why do the Republicans bend over backwards to support big business, which worships the Almighty Dollar?

>>"The government can't even operate the post office successfully. They are going to close down 100 posts offices."

I rather think this has more to do with e-mail all but eliminating the need to send your correspondence via envelope. Healthcare is something people will always need, and there is no electronic alternative for antibiotics.

"They can deny service or put you on a "waiting list" indefinitely, essentially signing your death certificate. "

And that's how the insurance companies make money. The public option would change that.

It's entirely possible that YOUR government will fuck up everything it tries to accomplish, but that's not true for many other countries.

You are spreading lies about UHC, and we who know better are baffled and stunned that you so openly and brazenly do it, without the slightest bit of shame!

You speak about rationing, as if it happens in UHC but not in your system. The reality is that your for-profit health insurance both deny and ration care for those who need it.

And then you say that your government will close down hospitals when money is tight. Guess what? In my country, we have had universal healthcare accessible to the people even during recessions. Have there been cutbacks? Yes. So much that we had to dismantle the whole thing? Not even remotely!

STOP LYING. You are increasing the suffering and hardships for your fellow Americans by doing so. Not very patriotic, dipshit.
