@emau99, jsonitsac: It depends. In the denomination I grew up in it's a sin, since it's supposedly usurping God's right to choose who lives and dies (never mind that God's apparently not powerful enough to prevent it or that maybe that's how God would choose for a given person to die), but it's not completely unforgiveable.
As for John Smid, you're a fucking bastard. These people have had enough crap from people like you already, and now you're telling them to kill themselves if they just can't deny who they really are?

I went to Catholic grade school, and the stance I learned was the suicide is the murder of oneself, and as you die with the mortal sin of murder on your soul, I highly doubt it would allow for any spiritual resurrection.
I don't know if this is true (or do I? dun dun dun), but either way, suicide is a solution to nothing, jackass.

Then your morals are bad. Try getting them through empathy for your fellow humans, and not from some bronze-age goatherds.
Suicide is bad because you don't have time to be forgiven for the sin of killing yourself. Being gay is something you can still be forgiven for. Mass murder is something you can still be forgiven for. Simply put, anything except suicide and rejecting the holy spirit are forgiveable. So why do immoral acts matter at all? If Jesus dies for your sins, make it worth his while. Make sure you have lots of sins for Jesus to have died for!
