Humorously, liberals DID end slavery and pass the civil rights act while conservatives were the ones to oppose both of those. Also humorously, the founding fathers were highly against political parties and would probably have heart attacks if they saw the two party shit we have now.

While Obama won't mandate that kids have to attend public school he will manipulate the system so public school becomes soooooo attractive and cheap that it will be hard to resist. Meanwhile, private schools will go out of business and people will lose jobs.
Won't happen. There's more than enough rich snobs out there who send their kids to private school just so they can achieve an orgasm at the thought of being able to say their kids go to private school. Same goes for health care - enough people will buy private health care solely because it costs more.
You guys who get so psycho about these things consistently fall flat on the human element. People will pay a lot more money just for the satisfaction of being able to say they paid a lot more money. Even if the service isn't any better, if they paid more for it they can act like it is, or maybe even truly believe it is just by virtue of being expensive. And if there's one thing people like more than money, it's status.
I'm not even addressing the ridiculous last paragraph because enough people will point out how stupid it is.

Affirmative Action and the Civil Rights Act were passed by Democratic administrations, yes. The rest of it is just FAIL. Republicans did not create HIV. The Founders were rich white slave owners, but they were still the Founders. That last sentence, though...just swap out "black" for "poor" and you might be getting closer to the truth :P

Where Civil Rights are concerned, apparently you've never heard of The Southern Strategy, by which Republicans took the South.
And where in this country could you possibly have gone to school that they didn't have filthy language and the occasional violent incident? School violence is lower now than it has been in over thirty years, and public schools can't get any cheaper--they're already free.
Alas, it would never happen, but if only they WOULD end homeschooling, so you couldn't brainwash your poor kids 24/7, the whole country would be better off.
