If he threw in the Jews somehow control everything in the world conspiracy, this could have been a trifecta.

"Why are Jews Liberals?"
...because they're smarter than Christians?
Not that I actually believe such generalisations are warranted.
9/17/2009 10:39:11 PM
I talked with a Jewish woman whose an conservative actually. And she's one of those very rare nice non-judgemental conservatives.
9/17/2009 11:04:03 PM
Hm. I think I'll just have a bit of a cry.
9/17/2009 11:30:45 PM
Uh, no. Anachronisms are not good arguments.
9/17/2009 11:40:49 PM
Nathan the Wise
Funny, Jews here in the UK tend (on the whole) to be Conservative, and the more religious they are, the more likely it is.
Maybe, just a thought, Jews in America don't much care for being preached at by fundagelicals who tell them they're all hell-bound unless they accept the dead dude as their personal saviour.
9/17/2009 11:48:26 PM
Jews are Jews, not Christians! Holy sheepshit, Batman!!!
9/17/2009 11:55:47 PM
Let's see, because Jews don't feel the need to force their religion on everyone else, and believe (for the most part) that right action is more important than the right god, and that the covenant in the OT (Torah) is solely for Jews.... yeah, they're EEEVIL. *grumble grumble*
9/18/2009 12:01:55 AM
"For most American Jews, the core of their Jewish identity isn’t solidarity with Israel; it’s rejection of Christianity."
WHAT?! You mean they don't want a religion that has persecuted them for centuries to have unlimited power? THE NERVE!
9/18/2009 12:33:24 AM
No, its because most Republicans are crazy evangelicals who constantly tell them they should/will burn for all eternity.
9/18/2009 1:18:03 AM
Wow. So, to recapitulate your conclusions:
All liberals are unchristian, which is not true.
And, Jews aren't Christians, which is tautology. Your point being?
9/18/2009 1:45:40 AM
Maybe Jews are smart enough to be aware of the fact that religious fundamentalists make bad politicians, no matter how often they state their intention to support israel
9/18/2009 1:56:09 AM
Do you people really believe the sun rises and sets with you every morning? Do you really believe that everyone's life centers around and acceptance or rejection of christianity? Or are you that desperate for any little validation of your belief that you search for a religious meaning to every little thing on the planet.
Just because you're obsessed with your god doesn't mean everyone else is. Take the God goggles off and try to see the world for how it really is. Most people, Jewish or otherwise are just trying to live their lives and do what's best for themselves, their families and their communities. Don't flatter yourself, you're not that special. If your feelings are hurt because other people believe something else, then you've got some major issues.
9/18/2009 2:08:09 AM
What do you think this mans political preferences are?
This is Henry Kissinger, elderly Jewish man, paleaoconservative, Richard Nixon's former Foreign Secretary and as far removed from liberal as Andromeda is from Kansas.
Religion and/or ethnicity =/= political preference you dumb fuck!
9/18/2009 2:37:16 AM
@Eden: I think a lot of Jews have caught onto the fact that the fundies' support for Israel is based on nothing more than its role in Rapture prophecy. Not out of any regard for the Jewish people, who will all die or convert to Christianity when the end times come.
9/18/2009 2:55:49 AM
"this could have been a trifecta"
Coulda, woulda, shoulda ...
9/18/2009 2:58:01 AM
For most American Christians, the core of their Christian identity isn't solidarity, but the rejection of Judaism.
Yeah, sounds equally stupid.
9/18/2009 3:01:00 AM
Here we go again. Some fuckwit identifying liberalism with non-Christianity.
9/18/2009 3:23:31 AM
Well to be fair, with Christians like you, can you really blame them?
9/18/2009 4:18:55 AM
For most American Jews, the core of their Jewish identity isn’t solidarity with Israel; it’s rejection of Christianity.
When are you idiots going to learn that the world does not revolve around your religion? The core of the jewish identity isn't solidarity with israel, nor does it have anything whatsoever to do with christianity. There core of jewish identity is, and has always been the jewish community. How could the core of their identity be rejection of christianity when judaism predates christianity by a couple thousand years?
This observation may help to explain the otherwise puzzling political preferences of the Jewish community explored in Norman Podhoretz’s book.
Neither Norman Podhoretz, nor anyone else has either the ability, or the right to dictate what someone else's political or ideological opinions are.
Jewish voters don’t embrace candidates based on their support for the state of Israel
Some do, but most likely tend vote for the candidate that they think will do the best job, just like the majority of voters.
as much as they passionately oppose candidates based on their identification with Christianity
If that were the case then there would almost certainly be no jewish votes cast in any election. Mostly owing to the fact that there are hardly any politicians in the US that don't go out of their way to hype themselves as belonging to whatever kind of christianity that will score them the most votes. And even with all these displays of blatant and outright christianity, jews still turn out to vote in large numbers during elections.
9/18/2009 4:39:49 AM
Gee, I thought they just didn't want to vote for people who would put them in concentration camps or use them for Apocalypse canon-fodder.
9/18/2009 5:51:08 AM
Read that with a Cartman voice in your head, it's HILARIOUS.
9/18/2009 6:16:06 AM
It depends on what you mean by Liberal. Many Americans these days seem to have changed its meaning to something that bears no proper relationship to what Liberalism is all about. I don't really understand what it now means in the US, except that it is politically a 'dirty word', or a term of abuse. Worst of all, a Coulterism.
I speak standard English and read and write it to a very high level. So quite frankly I couldn't be bothered to take account of fundie word definition games, for all that many Aericans have gone down that road.
If you want a wider audience/readership, get back to the standard language fast!
BTW, Christian separated from Judaism. They were originally one. Read your scriptures. The apostles continued to pray in the Temple... no? Even Jesus prayed in the Temple. Of course it takes educating to know that they were always Jews... So presumably Jesus and the apostles and the early Christians are in the lake of fire. Maybe that's why Jesus didn't return when he said he would, i.e. 2,000 years ago.
Oh, and why do so many American Christians bear the mark of the Jewish Covenant on their flesh? I mean circumcision. Are they all crypto Jews?
9/18/2009 6:24:00 AM
What makes it even funnier is that Michael Medved is Jewish, but like Commentary Magazine he has sold his soul to the Fundamentalist whore. Michael Medved has been screaming hysterical diatribes against "Lib-evils" for well over two decades ignoring the fact that Christian fundamentalists believe his conservative Jewish ass is going burn in hell for all eternity and that so many of these fundamentalists are anti-semitic shit-heads. The fact that Jewish voters distrust fundamentalist Christian candidates is quite sensible, although like all fellow travellers with the the fundamentalists Michael Medved identifies fundamentalist with Christian. The fact that most Jewish voters don't want to blow fundamentalist cock as the way Michael Medved himself has been doing for so long just so aggitates his cum stained face.
