If you're poking fun at believers please note that God is not your run of the mill imaginary friend, nor has half the planet considered Him such. It's always been ok to believe in a higher power you can talk to. It's other imaginary friends that should be deterred.

You're right, God is not your run-of-the-mill imaginary friend.
God is an imaginary friend who people fight WARS over.
This is the primary difference between God and Santa Claus. If somebody tells you Santa Claus doesn't exist, you go crying to your mommy. If somebody tells you God doesn't exist, you delcare Jihad on him and chop his head off.

So, he's a different kind of imaginary friend?
"It's always been ok to believe in a higher power you can talk to."
I just talk to myself. At least I wont be locked up for talking to non-existent people.
"It's other imaginary friends that should be deterred."
Yeah, like them heathen Jews and Muslims and their imaginary friend! Oh, wait...
So, you're saying that it's okay to believe in your imaginary friend, but it's not okay to believe in others.
Also, I like the presence of the word "other" there. Suggests that God IS in the category of "imaginary friend", and you KNOW he is.
"...your run of the mill imaginary friend,..."
All imaginary friends are still imaginary. Glad you admit that he isn't real.
I agree Tribulana, God is definitely not your run of the mill imaginary friend. He's the number one and most popular imaginary friend, certainly in the west. But, He's still imaginary though.
I agree it is OK to believe in a higher power and it is OK to talk to it. But when it's imaginary? Gosh! Imagine that. People would think you were nuts, or stupid.

I am glad to see you admit that God IS an imaginary friend. That's a good start.
"nor has half the planet considered Him such."
So what? The majority is often wrong.
"It's always been ok to believe in a higher power you can talk to."
Not in the rational, reasonable, reality-based crowds I hang with.
"It's other imaginary friends that should be deterred."
Uh, well, at least you're still admitting that God isn't real.

My imaginary friend is bigger than your imaginary friends - and he's gonna beat them all up! Nyer, nyer, nyer, nyer!

Prove it.
"nor has half the planet considered Him such."
Because I care.
"It's always been ok to believe in a higher power you can talk to."
Cool story bro.
"It's other imaginary friends that should be deterred."
You're an idiot.
He's got a point.
Still not a third of the people in the world,
Still segmented by differing beliefs within it's demograhic.
Still mostly not in charge due to it's destructive past
Still superstitious nonsense

Invisible? Check.
Intangible? Check.
Cannot be heard by others? Check.
Cannot be show to effect the real world in any way? Check.
Looks like it from where I stand. But I guess you are right your "god" is not a run of the mill imaginary friend, most people grow out of the imaginary friend phase after they hit adulthood.
nor has half the planet considered Him such
There is no single "half" of the planet that can even agree on a single "god".
It's always been ok to believe in a higher power you can talk to.
And it's always been ok for kids the world over to believe in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny, but that doesn't make any of them real.
It's other imaginary friends that should be deterred.
Because one should always fear the wrath of jelous imaginary friends.
"It's always been ok to believe in a higher power you can talk to."
Maybe so, but that doesn't mean such a higher power actually exists. The number of people talking to a higher power (though I don't think you can claim half the planet as Christian, which you imply by the use of "Him") does not prove the existence of anything supernatural.
So wait...
"God is not your run of the mill imaginary friend"
"It's other imaginary friends that should be deterred."
You are actually admitting you and everyone else should worship an IMAGINARY character...IMAGINARY...like FICTIONAL?
Did you ever consider that members of other religions might take serious offense to your idea of their gods being "imaginary friends?"
...Hell, she all but calls her own god an imaginary friend, I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
Personally I hate the idea of higher powers in general. They always seem to be used to make a person feel helpless (look at AA).
As for invisible friends, I met this wonderful guy while out on a survival trip.
