No.
At the behest of his church/blood cult, my friend was convinced to stop taking his medication - that he had taken for YEARS before his conversion- FOR BIPOLAR DISORDER. Praying it away didn't help.
He shot himself two months later.

Azathoth, something similar happened to a friend of mine. He had schizophrenia, but was convinced by a church to stop taking his medication. He believed he was healed at first, but later went into a long psychotic period that his church friends never tried to help him with. He ended up committing suicide by jumping in front of a car.

I've said this before, but the kooky cult I was in preached that the ability to discover medication was a gift from God. You suck, Rapture Ready and I'd hope you're all sterile, but fundies breed like rabbits.

Indeed, religion becomes much more convincing when you encourage mental illness.

It is true that they push too many medicines on us these days. Watching TV all day will lead you to believe that you need a medication for every body system that you have. I am a bit of a hypochondriac and the drug commercials really get to me. A lot of the "need" for medication could be eliminated if we would eat better, get up off our asses and do something, stop smoking, etc.
HOWEVER.
This does not apply to mental illness. Untreated mental illness is devastating to the person suffering and their loved ones. People with mental disorders need to seek help and take medication if it is prescribed. You can't put your little faith band-aid on bipolar disorder or schizophrenia or whatever. You're a fool if you think you can, and spreading your nonsense is bordering on criminal AND breaking one of your own board rules.

I don't think I can be bipolar, considering I'm consistently disinterested and lazy about everything. I hope the thought at least makes you feel better. Probably not.

Only way to get right in your head is through the biblical principal of taking every thought captive that is not of Faith, that means all of your hurts, doubts, anger, fears, did you know that they are not of Faith?
Hm,
if I remember correctly fear is definitely something of faith, as you can find numerous passages in the bible that go like this:
That they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children
Originally posted by Deuteronomy 6:13, 10:20
Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God.

The Lord ... is to be feared above all gods.

Natural herbs and techniques don't do shit. People think they do because of spontaneous remission and the placebo effect, and because 90% of people can't grasp the "correlation does not equal causation" principle.
That's not to say that all medications are effective, either. We could stand to do an overhaul of our drug system. But medications are vastly more effective than whatever shit you're touting.

as someone with a virtual alphabet soup of disorders, I will first say that I would rather deal with my 'demons' of mental illness than with your Gawd. and secondly, I offer a hearty and deeply felt FUCK YOU.

I am bipolar. I grew up in a family that thought that mental illness was of Satan. That was also the time of my life where I started becoming reckless, cutting, that whole suicide attempt...
And then there is my mom. Doesn't take meds because they aren't "of God". She's OD'd several times in her life, is abusing drugs, and left us over and over again.
But you'd probably just say we were/are of little faith.

Stay away from the medications that the doctors are giving out like candy.
I'll agree with this. Antibiotics are over abused by the general public who are enabled by their doctors and pharmacists.
There are too many natural herbs and techniques to use today.
Depends what kind of medical results one is hoping to achieve. Weight loss? Yeah, sure. Errections? Why not. Curing bipolar disease? Hardly. Not even close.
Everyone is bipolar.
Sure, we all have ups and downs but speak for yourself when it comes to the medical definition of bipolar.
I won't even comment on the further bullshit...

"Everyone is bipolar."
Proof? Didn't think so.
"Only way to get right in your head is through the biblical principal of taking every thought captive that is not of Faith, that means all of your hurts, doubts, anger, fears, did you know that they are not of Faith?"
So, "God-fearing" is not part of the dogma that your cult cherry-picks out of the Bible? Ever hear of self-flagellation and other guilt-ridden behaviors promoted by the Christian church? I'm pretty sure guilt is an emotion.
I think you're confusing Christianity with the planet Vulcan from Star Trek. Easy mistake to make.

Ignorant, lying moron. You jesus freaks have been spewing the same nonsensical bullshit for 2000 years with the same effect - absolutely nothing. Human life expectancy only rose when people at last rejected the intellectual paralysis of religion, threw out the doctrine of ignorance and fear and realised that people like you are the real cause of so much suffering on this planet. No one anywhere has *ever* been healed by faith. No one. Ever. Yet you continue to disseminate lies, use your faith as a shield to hide your hatred and bigotry behind and expect to be respected for it. I've got news for you, pal, I don't respect unreasoning faith, I don't respect your or anyone else's religion. I see you for what you are: a dangerous and deluded death-cultist who, if they had their way, would impose a fascist theocracy on the rest of us.
Take your lies and ignorance and leave the rest of us sane people the fuck alone.
