"Father in racism custody case says writing on child's skin is free expression

(CP) – 1 hour ago

WINNIPEG — A Manitoba man says the provincial government had no right to seize his children after one of them showed up to school with racist slogans and drawings on her body.

In newly filed court documents, the man argues the government has violated his Charter rights by preventing he and his wife from "expressing themselves to their children".

Manitoba Child and Family Services is seeking permanent care of the couple's two children and final arguments are set for Sept 25.

In its final submissions, the government argues freedom of expression does not extend to writing slogans in permanent marker on children's bodies.

The government also says the couple's racist beliefs were only one factor in the decision to seize the children, and alleges the kids were neglected and raised in squalor.

No one involved in the case can be identified under Manitoba law."

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

I would think "writing on your children's bodies in permanent marker" would be reason enough for an investigation no matter what the message is.

Get the fuck out of my city you racist twats!

Bad enough these people pass their views on to their children at all, to do it literally means they should DIAF.

If you want to write obcene scrawls all over yourself, fine! Whatever does it for you, but leave your bloody kids out of it.

Oh please. Grow a set and write on yourself, instead of on a defenseless kid who doesn't know why the black kid he sits next to in class is suddenly pissed off at him.

Mister J

"Feed, clothe and appropriately care for my child like a decent human being, or fight the good fight against those blacks using lame-ass advertising that won't achieve shit? Quite the conundrum!"

Further proof that gargling Drain-O on a regular basis leads to enhanced decision making skills worthy of the superior race. Remind me why white supremacists fail so hard at everything?

So it's okay for your kid to get shit-kicked in the playground, but you wont do it to yourself?

More proof that racists are nothing but a bunch of cowards. Especially considering the racial tensions in Winnipeg.

I remember reading about this in my paper.

I live in Winnipeg, it makes me sick to share the same city as these fucks.

This is the province that sent body bags instead of medicine to several reserves during the swine flu outbreak.

Also has a history of pig violence against natives and seiks

Writing that kind of shit on your kids should not be allowed under any form of free expression. If your kid writes it on themselves, maybe there's a case for that (though it's still sick), but not parents writing it on kids.

Yes, their sacred rights. What about other people of other races rights?

I dont care if they wrote "STOP RACISM" or "PEACE" on their kids. Writing on your kids with permanent markers is child abuse. If the parents wanted to write on themselves that wouldve been fine.

"expressing themselves to their children"

No, they're stopping you from "expressing themselves ON their children"

The post above is not from me. It looks like the troll is on the loose again, and I suspect I know who it is. Anyone else think its weird that this trolling is happening at the exact same time John Galt is talking to me on the other thread?

It's not "freedom of expression" when it's expressed via proxy without consent. A kid can't consent to having racist hate scribbled all over his body. Informed consent, it's not just for sex.

I believe you meant "preventing him and his wife from 'expressing themselves to their children'", Mr. Reporter Man.

Andre

You see, "self-expression" ceases to be self-expression when when it's expressed through someone else, or someone else's skin. Especially when that someone else is given no opportunity to form their own opinions to express.
