Quote# 66044

The real problem is that everyone wants to believe in evolution because is discredits God our creator. Its feels much better to put the blinders on, for now anyway, and think that we are not to answer to a creator. Then we can live just as we want because we are just animals and the God of the universe is a fairy tale, right? By the way, universe means a single (uni)- spoken sentence(verse). "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth". Choosing to reject God and accept evolution takes more "faith" than believing in the Bible and understanding creation as it is given to us. Sin is the problem, men like darkness and the Bible is a Spot light. One day God will let people have their way in rejecting Him and there is a place for those sadly. Heaven will not be filled with people who don't want anything to do with God. Repent and accept Jesus Christ as your only means of salvation. Read your Bible, seek God and he will reveal Himself!

Once again, someone who has the balls to deny the existence of the large body of Christians who believe in evolution. Congrats.

Interesting, switch a few key words around, and that argument works for every other religion!

"Its feels much better to put the blinders on"

That one sentence is probably true. There must be a reason more than 90% of the world's population believe in some sort of god.

Of course, it only works that way. Even if these guys were right, it would not make sense for us atheists to "put the blinders on" to feel better or more comfortable.
If we knew a god existed and was going to punish us for all eternity if we didn't believe in him, how would it in any way be comfortable to choose not to believe him? That would be the most gutsy and uncomfortable decision anyone could make.

uni - one
versum - something rotated, rolled, changed

universe - everything rolled into one

Parroting only works when you're parroting people who know wtf they're talking about.

Kent Hovind isn't it.

Why can't some Christians see that evolution is much more intelligent than "Intelligent design" and should actually be more of a proof for God?

"The real problem is that everyone wants to believe in evolution because is discredits God our creator."
Um...no? Fuck it, I can believe whatever the hell I want, and if I want to believe that an scientifically observed reality is true, and also that there is a God, it still works perfectly fine and does NOTHING to discredit God....well not really (Though I have to admit that there are quite a few issue that need to be ironed out)

You people are just so fucking full of yourselves, aren't you? Maybe evolution just makes sense to some of us?

A few seconds was all it took to show that PHILIP is a major fail generator. So now we know that heaven is a place to be avoided at all costs as it is a haven for the failed. Heaven is full of fail because fail behaves like gravity, in as much as it is an attractor. And just as there are mascons in a geological sense, there are errorcons in a fail sense. PHILIP is a perfect example.

"The real problem is that everyone wants to believe in evolution because is discredits God our creator."

Uhm. . . no, there's this pesky little thing called facts, and the facts lead to the theory. If there were evidence of a creator, we'd accept that as well.

"Then we can live just as we want"

We ARE just animals, but that doesn't mean we can live as we want. Just because actions don't have eternal consequences doesn't mean they lack consequences altogether. If I believed like you think I do, I'd actually have a better life since I'd have no reason worry pathologically much what others think about me.

"Choosing to reject God and accept evolution takes more "faith""

No it doesn't. I've never had enough blind faith to believe in God. I need reasons, facts, observations, and God is really bad at providing those should he exist. On the other hand I could go outside and observe carefully for a while and see evolution happen. It's not faith if you can go look at it.

"Sin is the problem, men like darkness and the Bible is a Spot light."

You're stuck on that one, aren't you? No. One, there are people who accept evolutionary theory who are Christians. They accept the same teachings as you do, they just take fewer of them completely literally. Two, who really knows what the will of God is? People claim to, and to be informed by God himself, but it's very subjective. Three, I bet that's not what you meant by sin. What I just wrote about was what I was taught sin is, yet it was then still conflated with "doing bad things". God made a lot of people do a lot of 'bad things' if your Bible is to be believed, but it was supposedly his will, therefore not sin. Fourth, no, people don't just all of a sudden become amoral because they accept evolutionary theory.

"Heaven will not be filled with people who don't want anything to do with God."

It's not like heaven will be all that great a place anyway. Who wants to live in a place that's nothing but what we deem to be precious stones (no trees, no animals?), is only so big, and spend all our time praising an insecure God for eternity?

"Read your Bible, seek God and he will reveal Himself!"

He most certainly does. Why do you assume we haven't read it?

10/1/2009 2:42:18 AM

EvoPagan

No, people "believe in" evolution because it seems to be real and provable, and because it explains things a lot better than "well this god guy made a man from dirt and then he made a rib woman". Seriously.

Also, you need to start dealing with the fact that an awful lot of people have seriously sought god for years and years and years and found nothing.

"The real problem is that everyone wants to believe in evolution because is discredits God our creator."

How on Earth can you "discredit" something that doesn't exist? Please try talking sense. And the fact of evolution is in no way affected by belief.

Yet another YEC who has no fucking clue what the ToE actually says. God is not mentioned in the theory one way or the other--so how can it possibly discredit him?

I have read the bible, and if anything it has driven me further away from Christianity than made me want to embrace it.

I love how Christians think that all they have to say is "read the bible" and people will convert on the spot. It's reading the bible with a critical mind that turns people away from Christianity.

Actually I would rather reality be that evolution was not a fact on earth and that when I die I would spend eternity with the creator. Unfortunately that kind of wishful thinking does not alter reality. I can't even hit the power ball that way!

10/1/2009 9:08:05 AM

Or maybe it's the other way round, you want to believe it's not science to continue to have another person thinking for you. You choose.
