I have always been afraid of christians. I remember the last time I flew (in '89 I think) I was on the plane and 2 men were sitting I think across the aisle talking in tongues. I was terrified that they were batshit-crazy fuckers, and I was almost in tears the whole flight. In retrospect I think they may have been speaking Redneck. But it was so scary for me at the time....

Strange. I had an operation several years ago (removing a tumour on my rectal wall; it turned out to be benign, but was initially giving me gyp whenever I was on the toilet, hence the need for removal). The operation was a complete success, and the surgeon complimented the anaesthetist on his sterling work, ensuring it was completely painless for me.
Said anaesthetist is also my physician. Born in Uganda. He & his family was part of the purge by Idi Amin of Asians & non-Africans from that country in the 70s, resulting in the 'brain drain' there; most of whom settled in the UK, himself of parents from what would become Pakistan after partitioning from India.
His name's Dr. Khan. He's a Muslim. A Sufi, to be exact. I'm an Atheist, and he knows it. I'd trust him with my life.

The last time I was on the T, two brown-skinned men started speaking to each other in a foreign language. I get out of my house once in a while, took a foriegn language in college, and am not a xenophobic asshole, so I knew this language was Spanish, and not an unusual event. This was followed by a sultry female voice speaking into her cell phone. I instantly knew she was speaking Portuguese, again, not unsusual. Boston was not going to become the next London or Madrid because some Dominicans or Brazilians were on the train.

Any educated English speaking person should be able to identify French without knowing the language, because so many French terms have been adopted by English and you should recognize the sounds. Arabic and French sound very different from one another, even to someone that knows neither language.
Also: It does not encourage me to join your religion when you tell me how it has made you afraid of random people that you normally wouldn't notice.
