i've always wondered what atheists thought about the orgin of life. the origin of everything. since various harvard, ivy league, big name professors and scientists have said that all evidence points toward a supreme being yet they choose not to believe there is a god because the notion seems 'absurd' 'preposterous', etc. they just refuse to believe it.

well, if you went to school you would learn about a bang. it was quite giant, some might call it big.
although I would like to see the evidence.
Professors of what, exactly? Why should it matter to me what some guy in theology or philosophy of religion or (ha!) economics says about the origin of the world?
Names and departments, or it didn't happen. ("Big name professors" my left kidney! Ha!)
Well you got me. Every since those anonymous but undoubtedly real big name ivy league professors came out in favour of a supreme being I've had to content myself with the support of second rate small fry like Stephen Hawking, Carl Sagan, Richard Feynman, Leon Festinger, Stephen Gould, Richard Dawkins, Susan Greenfield, Peter Higgs (he of the eponymous boson), Victor Stenger, J. Craig Venter, Alan Turing, Oliver Sacks, Ernst Mayr, John Maynard Smith, ...
And where have the details of this alleged evidence been published?
No, wait, let me guess, the bible, right?
Most atheists think that we don't know yet about the origin of life but we're going to continue searching for evidence. The origin of everything can be found in the Big Bang theory.
"A supreme being" is still not the same as "the Christian God", it might just as well be Brahman.
I concur with the "Professors of what?" and "Scientists in what field?" questions.
“i've always wondered what atheists thought about the orgin of life. the origin of everything.”
I think in about 220 years, a drunk college student will create a time machine and blast himself into the monobloc to see what happened. That’ll destabilize it and he will cause the big bang. Again.
“since various harvard, ivy league, big name professors and scientists have said that all evidence points toward a supreme being”
If all these people, and many, many more, also say that all evidence points to evolution being real, you accept that?
"yet they choose not to believe there is a god because the notion seems 'absurd' 'preposterous', etc. they just refuse to believe it.”
No, it’s not that i refuse to believe it. It’s just that a bunch of peopel endorsing a stupid fucking idea doesn’t make it any less stupid.
Confused?
