Quote# 66691

The author's of Redeeming Halloween: Celebrating Without Selling Out are foolishly wrong to claim that Halloween used to be "INNOCENT." Halloween was never innocent, any more than the innocent tiger who ripped his owner and trainer, Roy Horn (of Siegfried and Roy) to shreds in 2003. Christians who take their kids trick-or-treating (or let their kids go on their own) ought to feel guilty because Halloween is the Devil's day. No Christian should support such a wicked holiday. Just because nearly everyone does it doesn't justify it. Most people have no problem going down to the beach to watch people walking around 98% naked. This is sinful. Likewise, Halloween is of the Devil and any Christian who celebrates it to ANY extent should feel guilty. The two women who authored Redeeming Halloween: Celebrating Without Selling Out suggest appropriate "costumes" for kids to wear on Halloween. They ought to be ashamed of themselves if they are indeed true believers.

Confusing Devil's Night with All Hallow's Eve much?

Ever heard of All Saints' Day?

98%? That seems very specific...

Dave, Dave, Dave...

...you're always good for a laugh.

Actually, I'm surprised he didn't mention anything about Disney's teenaged hookers.

Pu-lease... if it were the devil's holiday, we would be handing out dead babies instead of candy. Everyone knows this.

"Halloween was never innocent, any more than the innocent tiger who ripped his owner and trainer, Roy Horn (of Siegfried and Roy) to shreds in 2003."

News flash: the aforementioned tiger was, in fact, innocent.

Man, ol' Davy boy here would probably be crapping himself if he saw how people in the "good old days" celebrated Halloween and still believed to be Christian as ever.

Halloween was never innocent, any more than the innocent tiger who ripped his owner and trainer, Roy Horn (of Siegfried and Roy) to shreds in 2003.

It was innocent.

Christians who take their kids trick-or-treating (or let their kids go on their own) ought to feel guilty because Halloween is the Devil's day.

So does that make Easter and Christmas the devil's day too?

Most people have no problem going down to the beach to watch people walking around 98% naked.

God didn't get mad at Adam when he was naked. He got mad when he covered up.

This is sinful.

The bible also says that judgement is sinful. But that doesn't stop you from doing it everyday.

A) Halloween is perfectly innocent.

B) Are you suggesting that people should swim fully clothed at the beach?

David's just another idiotic, rambling fundy who has no idea what he's talking about....

Hey David! If you're reading this, try researching "All Hallows' Eve" and "All Saints' Day".

Oh noes it's the fun police!

Out to ruin all the fun because it offends their imaginary friend!

Dave, you are the most pathetic man alive.

I see David is once again projecting his obsessive lust for scantily clad women onto everyone else.

Little kids dressed up like angels and the Incredible Hulk, knocking on doors to get candy. Oooh...eevil.

Yeah, or any more innocent than the animals that don't wear clothes. Or any more innocent than the animals that never go to the church. What do they do instead? Frolick in the woods and sin without clothes!

Halloween was originally a Celtic Pagan celebration (Samhain). As such it was pre-Christian. As such it was nothing to do with the Devil which is a Christian invention.

Yet another ridiculous moral tactic of believers: aside from obvious violations of the moral code that everyone, regardless of belief, holds dear (prohibition of perjury, murder, adultery, theft), the believer feels that they alone are morally astute enough to notice the immorality of completely innocuous activities that hurt no one.

How pathetic and contemptible it is to randomly choose some type of behaviour that hurts no one, abstain from that behaviour, and then claim moral superiority on that basis?!

Being grotesquely self-righteous is, in my eyes, a sin.

Aaahhhh, Dave. Is there anything in life you don't try to completely suck the fun out of? You really should get out of your parents' basement more.

The town I grew up in (almost 100% Christian) had a very structured halloween celebration. You could only trick-or-treat for about an hour (small town so that was more than enough time to blanket an area, twice even) then all the kids went to various sponsored parties, based on the grade they were in at school, the idea being to keep them safe and out of trouble. And guess what, half those parties were held in church halls. And these were real Halloween parties too, with haunted houses, horror movies shown and all the other trappings of the holiday. None of that Hell House shit.

Halloween was never innocent, any more than the innocent tiger who ripped his owner and trainer, Roy Horn (of Siegfried and Roy) to shreds in 2003.

So you admit that God's Kingdom isn't perfect (i.e., tigers are evil and "never innocent") even though they were made that way?

Christians who take their kids trick-or-treating (or let their kids go on their own) ought to feel guilty because Halloween is the Devil's day.

It's called Wikipedia, look it up before you start blabbering away. (Though it's far from perfect, it's the only online free encyclopedia I can think of (Britannica requires a membership.))

I do. The hot people should walk around 100% naked.

i just want to point out that the tiger in question didn't attack roy. after roy fell the tiger grabbed him by the neck and tried to drag him to safety, like he was one of it's cubs. unfortunately for roy, tigers have very thick skins on their neck, and not exposed nerves and veins.
