How sad is it that you have to goad kids into becoming christian by making them think they will be percieved as rebelous and edgy, rather than just telling them what christianity is all about, like what it believes and why?.

Because the best way to rebel is to join a religion who's members comprises 70% of the population? That's not rebellion, it's coerced conformity. Christianity isn't some fringe minority religion of outcasts and rebels fighting to end their persecution at the hands of some monolithic oppressor. Christianity is the big box store, It's the Wal-Mart of religion, gleefully going about crushing those that dare to disbelieve or shop for salvation elsewhere.

Getting converts to alienate their friends outside the church is a tactic of cults, not of benevolent religions. If the convert truly believes then his belief should be able withstand friendships with those outside the faith.

The idea that someones friends will desert them when the become christians is for the most part untrue, they may disapprove or challenge that persons beliefs, but in the end it always the convert, usually with encouragement by members of their new religion, that pushes his friends away.

Mmmmm'kay... I don't think that's really something to be all that proud about. Further more, that mindset leads some to believe that they can excuse any act, crime, or harm they commit because they can just be forgiven afterwards like nothing ever happend, no guilt or remorse required.

Reasons most kids laugh and call you a fucktard when you walk away, Pendragon:

1. Because being Christian is not rebellious, and is rarely balanced with critical thought. Teens don't tend to be attracted by the promise of being told what to do, how to do it, and why, especially when they're discouraged from asking real questions.

2. Most teens are more critical of Hitler (and anything referencing Hitler) than many adults. As we get older, we find more humor in satire and the absurd, and we can laugh at things like that one Father Ted episode. But teens - they're horrified and appalled and don't think it's anything to laugh at. (As evidenced by the dead silence in a group of about 20 16-year-olds I watched that episode with. Jaws agape, and only the adults [all well-educated; two WWII vets included] laughed.)

So you see, invoking forgiveness for Hitler only makes them wonder what the hell kind of twisted "god" your cult admires, that you're all warm and fuzzy over someone like that. Want to brainwash--er, "convert" kids? Knock off the Hitler love until the third date.
