Quote# 66886

[re: Should abortion be available in certain circumstances - eg. the 9 year old Brazilian girl who was raped by her stepfather and became pregnant?]

Thou shalt not kill.

It does not say, "Thou shalt not kill, unless you are young."

It does not say, "Thou shalt not kill, unless you are raped."

It does not say, "Thou shalt not kill, unless it would be an inconvenience."

Thou shalt not kill. (period)

And what about all those times in the Bible when God says "Kill them"?

10/27/2009 6:29:51 PM

I sincerely hope you never have children.

I also hope you are never given a position working with, or in close proximity to children.

10/27/2009 6:31:56 PM

When religion is used for such intolerable human cruelty, I really do feel physically ill. Not because of the cruelty... but because they're espousing it as morally right.

I don't often say this... but Matt Wade: DIAF.

10/27/2009 6:32:20 PM

It does not say, "Thou shalt not kill, unless you hate them", either.

Doesn't stop you assholes.

10/27/2009 6:37:11 PM

I'm guessing you're working on abolishing the death penalty.

... Oh... No?????

10/27/2009 6:38:41 PM

Girls are supposed to be thinking about makeup and clothes and friends at that age, not how to raise a child of their own! Seriously. DIAFF.

10/27/2009 6:40:38 PM

The death penalty point has already been made, so I should point out that's a mistranslation.

It's "Thou shalt not MURDER".

What qualifies as murder is up to the individual, but generally, it's assumed that killing another person means you are guilty until proven innocent.

This means I am against the death penalty, as we might kill someone who didn't deserve it.

10/27/2009 6:42:09 PM

Thou shalt not kill.

It does not say, "Thou shalt not kill, unless they are not Christian."

It does not say, "Thou shalt not kill, unless they are gay."

It does not say, "Thou shalt not kill, unless they perform abortions for women and girls who want and need them."

Thou shalt not kill. (period)

10/27/2009 6:58:35 PM

It does, however, say "Thou shalt not kill, unless the person you're killing is an abortion doctor, atheist, homosexual, muslim, adulterer, firstborn son of an Egyptian, or basically anyone else who disagrees with you or who I dont like. Absolutely no unborn fetuses, though."

10/27/2009 7:00:58 PM

Then I guess you should stop killing all those germs by washing your hands...

10/27/2009 7:04:01 PM

Obviously, we just need to declare war on babies. Then it would be okay!

10/27/2009 8:02:03 PM

the dog

It does however say to kill gays and non believers adulterers and a host of others who offend god's loving nature.

Hosea describes children being dashed to pieces and pregnant women being cut open but that is OK with the god of love cos they were naughty people who did not believe !

10/27/2009 8:08:00 PM

Sometimes they make it almost too easy.

10/27/2009 8:19:13 PM

So what about forcing a 9 year old girl to die an agonizing death from ruptured organs, carrying a baby that her body cannot cope with? Does that not count as murder?

10/27/2009 8:20:07 PM

Oh boy, let me add some:

It does not say, "Thou shalt not kill, unless they are Arabs."

It does not say, "Thou shalt not kill, unless they are criminals."

It does not say, "Thou shalt not kill, unless your holy book says they are an abomination."

It does not say, "Thou shalt not kill, unless you are a deity."

Also, for anyone who's interested, matt wade here is preaching the Catholic party line on this one. Everyone involved with this girl's abortion (which saved her life, by the way) was excommunicated. Doctors, mother, everyone except the step-dad because he wasn't Catholic to begin with and the little girl he raped because SHE WASN'T OLD ENOUGH! That's right, they would have kicked her out too, but she was just too young.

10/27/2009 8:42:47 PM

The Bible makes plenty of exceptions to that particular commandment. Of course, you fucks don't know that an eye for an eye was a call for restraint.

10/27/2009 9:48:58 PM

It does, however, say that we SHOULD kill disrespectful children and adulterers. You don't seem to be following that guideline too closely, do you?

10/27/2009 9:51:46 PM

I not only think the girl needed the abortion, I would have taken the stepfather out and shot the son of a bitch.

10/27/2009 10:01:30 PM

Professor M

Dude needs to read his own Bible. It's pretty clear in the Tanakh that a fetus is not a full human life, and killing one isn't "taking a human life" until late in the pregnancy.

10/27/2009 10:40:52 PM

Actually, it's Thou shalt not murder. But, to-may-to, to-ma-to.

Matt, never allow your morals to prevent you from doing what's right.

As a wise man once said: "I stand by my set of moral principles. If you don't like them, I have another set."

10/28/2009 12:53:10 AM

On behalf of every human on earth, fuck you.

10/28/2009 1:22:42 AM

The Colonel

It's actually thou shalt not murder, and in the context of the old testament, murder only meant to kill another of God's chosen people, ie the Jews. By that logic, then, it would be okay to kill anyone who is not a Jew. Period Muthafucka!!!

10/28/2009 2:00:11 AM

Yeah, let's turn that around, shall we? And what if, for example, that girl would surely die from complications during pregnancy? Thou shall not kill, right?
You would like to kill the little girl, won't you? Even if she could live and give birth to dozen other children later? So, you would kill the girl and all possible children just because you are dick?

Good for you and DIA shitthouse!

10/28/2009 2:44:51 AM

Thou shalt allow the 9-year-old child to die because her body is incapable of carrying a baby to term. After all, she commited the crime of being raped.

10/28/2009 2:57:22 AM

Thus the proof that your bible is immoral and should not be followed.
