Quote# 66887

No baby murder, no exceptions.

Tell me, if a kidnapper took your wife, called you on the phone, and proceeded to tell you that in order to save your wife, you will have to kill your five year old daughter, would you do it? Of course not! Taking the life of the baby, then, to save the mother, is morally reprehensible.

Another thing: doctors tell us that in almost every case, with the exception of the very earliest in utero murders, the abortion is more traumatic and dangerous than carrying the baby to term.

Tell me, do we not trust God? Can we not leave the choice of who lives and who dies in His knowing hands? It is WRONG to take human life! How DARE a so called Christian support such a thing!

Bet you $100 this guy supports the Iraq war.

5 year old child, non-sentient 2 inch lump of cells...

It's all the same, right?

Can we not leave the choice of who lives and who dies in His knowing hands?

Can we remind you of this next time you go see a doctor?

We need an analogy doctor in here, stat!!

And regarding the 2nd paragraph, let me be the first to say: [citation needed].

First of all, if we left "...the choice of who lives and who dies in His knowing hands..." then we would still have lifespans in the 30's and would have a 50% infant mortality rate.

Secondly, if the roles were reversed and you had to kill your wife to save your child, would you? It's an impossible choice, there is no "right" answer. However, if you had to destroy a lump of barely specialized cells to save your wife, wouldn't you?

Thirdly, Doctors must be telling you one thing, and telling the rest of the fucking world another because what you just said doesn't really check out.

A five year old is a person. An embryo is a clump of goo. Invalid comparison.

"Doctors tell us that in almost every case...........the abortion is more dangerous and traumatic than carrying the baby to term".

Total fucking lie. Childbirth is always a dangerous, potentially life-threatening process. The majority of abortions are not, unless you include the gun-wielding right-wing lunatics who threaten women and their health care providers.

I sooo wish you could be made pregnant with a life threatening pregnancy.

A better analogy is self-defense.

You people are giving this glob of tissue more rights than an adult human being if you can't even kill it to save your life.

Is the five year old daughter in question a clump of cells that is doomed anyway?

"No baby murder, no exceptions."

But what if it is SATAN!?! Or a DEMON BABY!? Or worse yet an UNBELIEVER BABY?!

"Tell me, if a kidnapper took your wife, called you on the phone, and proceeded to tell you that in order to save your wife, you will have to kill your five year old daughter, would you do it? Of course not! Taking the life of the baby, then, to save the mother, is morally reprehensible."

Crap analogy, better one (even then 5 year old=/=clump of cells):

Same scenario but he says you have to kill your daughter or they will both die. Because that's usually how it works out.

"the abortion is more traumatic and dangerous than carrying the baby to term."

Especially if that baby bankrupts you and still has a shitty life because you can't afford to care for it.

If you cannot see the viable answer to the moral dilemma you posed, havensdad, then I cannot answer it for you.

A hint for you: you're looking at it the wrong way.

I vote that Pro-lifers recieve no medical treatment, ever, as they obviously want to have 'him' decide who lives and dies.

This will solve all the problems as it will kill off all the pro-lifers before they can even begin protesting.

Congradulations! You just cursed and shunned all doctors, nurses, policemen, firemen and engineers in existance. Good luck and good riddance.

Doctors do not say any such thing.

It is WRONG to take human life!

Bet you support the death penalty, sport hunting and killing anyone who happens to be dark-skinned, live in the desert and call your god by another name, right?

Mrs. Antichrist

The difference is that:

A) A 5-year-old is fully aware of her surroundings, capable of feeling pain and loss. A first trimester embryo is not.

B) In cases where the mother is past the point of viability, the labour is induced and the baby is delivered early. Early induction and abortion are not the same thing. When the former is performed, they do not actively try to end the baby's life. In fact, they'll often do anything they can to SAVE its life by placing it in the NICU. In cases where there is nothing to do for the baby, they simply stop any treatment and allow nature to take its course.

And in those other cases, she has to die because the operation that will save her life is against your religion.

Pregnancy and childbirth have more dangerous side effects than abortion. That's why I'm against forcing women into pregnancies they don't want.

Plus, you know, if the mother dies, so does the fetus unless it's viable.

Hirsute_Nailbomb

i think we should have an, "ABORTION DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY!" pic that everyone can go to in these cases.

Doubting Thomas

So if God creates problems in a pregnancy that threatens the mother's life, he's the same as a kidnapper who threatens to kill a mother if the father doesn't kill the 5-year-old child? I can see that. God does have a pretty bad track record of evil in the Old Testament.

Let's face it, pro-lifers are all about pregnancy and childbirth being a punishment for having sex.

10/28/2009 7:47:43 AM

lol what

Another thing: doctors tell us that in almost every case, with the exception of the very earliest in utero murders, the abortion is more traumatic and dangerous than carrying the baby to term.

Lol no.

Most aborted "babies" are 6-8 weeks or less (late term abortions are performed when the mother is in danger. BTW if the mother dies, the fetus dies anyway so why not sacrifice one to save the other? Why should they both die?)

Anyway, I don't know how to post images here but this is what MOST abortions abort:

Citation needed on that thing you say doctors tell you.

Perhaps you didn't realize this, but if the mother dies, so does the infant, whereas if only the infant dies, the mother can have another baby later.
