So close, yet so far.
If only they would have gone *one* tiny thought step further and had it click.

Even taking the precept at face value, how does "trusting as children" imply "lack of factual knowledge"?

*clap clap clap* At least you're trying to understand what they're saying. That's a step up from some people!

I also have a hard time believing in Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy. Does that make me "stupid," too?

Yes, don't be like the atheists and understand big words, be like children and just believe everything your preacher tells you.

That's because you have a third grade education. I have yet to hear anything from an atheist that I didn't understand immediately with no outside aid, except for perhaps some terms relevant to advanced biology or chemistry.

Why oh why do they admit that they don't even understand our sentences? That is not - and I mean really, really NOT - an argument in their favour.

Children are ignorant but never innocent, at least not in the way people usually think. It's evolutionary trait that children believe what their parents tell them, least there would be a lot more children drowning, dying under car wheels, dying from drinking acid etc. But adults ought to be different and know better.

That's why fundamentalists never seem to remember when their leaders are caught stepping out with their followers or dipping into the collection plate. They also have the attention spans of children.

So basically you have to be ignorant and stupid and stay that way all your life....and you wonder why people mock you
Actually that explains the wall-o-smilies fundies tend to use

"I'd have to pull out my dictionary to understand some of the words they used"
That's why you have a hard time understanding reality.
"cause we need to be like children and just have faith and trust... it's that simple"
You're simple all right.

What I miss from childhood is that sense of wonder and curiosity about the world. Even back then I knew that religionists were/are jackasses.
