Quote# 67454

I purpose that we remove all theories, and inventions that the Christians made to science. And take it to court and have a law past that says: because science chooses to be of a secular nature only. To use anything that a Christian gave to it would violate the separation of church and state. This would mean that all inventions made by atheist because of a Christian scientist findings, would become useless and worthless. Now you might think that would not be much. Which would mean you would be going to court to be taken. Because you have not been told the vast contributions Christians, and Jews have made to science. So for the next several pages, I will list them. And don't forget, they are stupid because they believed in God (like the evolutionist like to claim).

"Because you have not been told the vast contributions Christians, and Jews have made to science"

LOL, I very much know the contributions they made to science. However they still used SECULAR science to do them. They didn't pray to god for their discoveries, no they did tests, they observed and came to logical conclusions.

And no, only modern day creationists are stupid actually. You are stupid because you refuse to understand the basics of evolution because of your brainwashing of "godidit."

Also notice however he listed was before Darwin's book?

Why can't you list scientists today? Oh that's right there aren't any. Well you can but then you must include the Nazi Wernher von Braun.

most of those lived in times where they would be persecuted if they expressed a lack of faith in either christianity or judaism...so, if you can prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that they were True Christians (TM)...then go for it...
Also, Deists don't count...

also, learn the difference between "past" and "passed". kthx.

Isaac (I think he needs to go back to 1st grade & learn to spell) also needs to get his head out of the buy-bull and into a science textbook.

Nobody ever said Christians aren't allowed to do science. But there's a difference between a Christian practicing science and a Christian trying to make science fit their biblical preconceptions of the way the universe should be. Isaac Newton was about as devout a Christian as they come, but he is revered by the secular world because he practiced actual science instead of fixing the evidence to point to God. Ibn al-Haytham was a similar case, a Muslim scientist whose contributions were applicable universally and not biased by his belief in Islam.

It is not true that Christian scientists cannot contribute positively to science, but it is true that Christians who disguise their religious beliefs as science have nothing to contribute to either religion or science.

No one has ever claimed that Christians and Jews have made no contributions to science. Quite the contrary. What is disputed with creationists and ID people is not their faith in God but their substitution of biblical stories for scientific evidence. If they acknowledged the fossil record and evidence of an old earth, for example, but believed that God created all of it, like most rational Christians, no one would have a problem with that.

I don't think Christian and Jewish scientists really want you on their side. They kindly ask you to shut the hell up.

That won't take long.

Unless you count the 'interrogation' devices of the Spanish Inquisition.

Copernicus was a Christian. Spinoza was a Jew.

Copernicus demonstrated that the Earth is not central to the larger scheme of things.

Spinoza managed to convince the later Enlightenment philosophers that the god of Abraham is superfluous at best.

Dumbass. Just because someone who believes in a religion invented something, doesn't mean that it was through their religion. For it to be regarded as science, they have to go through the scientific method (and praying is not one of the steps).

Let's look at Fr. Gregor Mendel,
a contemporary of Darwin who discovered
the basic properties of genetics.

His studies helped us understand
how evolution works.
So,
Why don't christian fundies rebuke him?
Because they've never heard of him? ,or,
Because he was a christian?

Except the findings were offered by Christians acting in a scientific capacity, NOT a religious one. We'll keep the theories, thanks. Oh, by the way, we'd be able to reconstruct it all pretty well; it's well-documented.

So then the other "sekalar scientists" can just re-discover/invent them the next day and take full credit and royalties? Wow thanks Isaac!

It doesn't matter if a christian, muslim, hindu, zoroastrian, atheist, flying spaghetti monsterian, or cthluhuist invented it. "christians" made no contributions to science in the way you insinuate; scientists who held Christian beliefs did. Supernatural beliefs are entirely superfluous to reality.

Christians and Jews have made contributions to science. So have Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists and members of every sect, cult, or religion under the sun.

What's your point?
