Let's consider a few things:
"Who has killed millions of dissenters to their creeds over the years?" Who was responsible for the Spanish Inquisition? And more recently, the Holocaust?:

"Who has committed genocide on almost unimaginable scales?" Just read your own Old Testament:

"Who constitute the vilest, most fanatical, and most dangerous countries on the planet today?"

"See, if you want to play the moral equivalency game, we can play it too."
So can we Atheists. Only this time, we win.
Oh, and further on in that thread, by Titus Quinctius Cincinnatus (quote):
"Are we going to dig out the whole “Catholics aren’t real Christian theme again?”
Not unless you really want to, but all the same, facts are facts. And the fact is, most of the ones doing the witch burning and heretic burning were Catholics. That much is not really disputable."
Not just witches. And not just burning. And not just by Catholics:

One can just imagine the assembled throng watching this, all the while singing:
'And they'll know we are Christians by our love, by our love
Yes, they'll know we are Christians by our love.'
