Quote# 67595

A MARTA bus driver is on suspension following allegations that he forced passengers to pray before allowing them to exit the bus.

Christopher James was one of those passengers. James said, initially, he thought something was wrong when he rang the bell to get off the bus and the door didn’t open.

James said the bus driver asked him and three other passengers to join hands in prayer. James said the driver prayed with the group for about four minutes.

Did the passengers actually submit and pray? I wouldn't have dreamt of humouring him.

You should know that purposely delaying your bus by four minutes endangers your chances of keeping that job, leroy.

Mister Spak

He thinks the bus runs on god power and it won't run if it isn't refueled.

11/16/2009 11:33:21 AM

Vince

did he do that at every stop?

slowest bus ever.

Caustic Gnostic

I wish I were on that bus, I really do.

Doubting Thomas

I'd have told him to stick his Jesus up his ass and demand to be let off. And if I weren't let off the bus I'd be making a phone call directly to that idiot's supervisor.

Clown

Somebody is going to lose his job.

At first I thought that if I were on that bus, I'd force my way off or something, but then I thought: This is a religious nut. A religious nut who might have a gun and be willing to use it on heathens.

So now I'm not so sure. It's not like that sort of thing never happens, so as much as I'd like to stay true to my principles, I might have prayed to appease the crazy man until he let me off.

Clown: someone is also on his way to La-la-Land, obviously. This guy should see a doctor, soon.

Living in the UK, the idea of the driver having a gun really wouldn't occur to me. Don't you guys have those nifty emergency-levers above the doors on your buses?

I'd probably ask to leave, and if I was refused, I'd call the police on my mobile phone cellphone. See how long his determination to force people to pray holds out.

Here in Pittsburgh I often am compelled to pray by the Port Authority drivers. But its due to their driving.

Are you fucking stupid? People have places to fucking be, you asshole.

So this is why buses never run on schedule. Can you imagine this happening at every stop?

Let me guess, the bus driver wanted to become a preacher as child, but his parents forced him to become a bus driver
;)

Let us pray:

"Dear God, please make sure this man loses his job. And also that I get to my meeting on time despite a four minute delay. Amen."

If he's a state employee, he is overstepping his bounds; he represents the state, which isn't allowed to force the people to act in accordance with a given religion.

"Oh God, please let me get off this bus in one piece!"

I would've taken out my cellphone and threatened him with calling the police because this was now a hostage situation.

11/16/2009 2:27:40 PM

Mrs. Antichrist

Why would they even go along with that? I would have pulled out my phone and threatened to call the police if he didn't let me out. This psycho should lose his job.

I bet the fundies are cheering on this "wonderful, biblical" man, and going on about how he'll have mansions and crowns in heaven. Unless he's Muslim, of course, in which case they'd label him a terrorist and advocate the death penalty.

Obviously, none of you folks have ever had to drive in Atlanta, GA. That's enough to make even an atheist pray for salvation!

BobsOldSocks

I would've called the police - there's a law against false imprisonment.

You think the bus driver was suffering madness?

MADNESS!?

THIS! IS! MARTA!

I wish I'd been on that bus. It would still be there at that very same stop.

I would have called 911 and filed kidnapping charges against the idiot.

It's a fucking bus not a mobile church, you idiot!
