most parents would then take their kids out of public schools and put them in Christians schools so their kids would avoid reading books like My Two Dad's.
Somehow a controversial book or two seems to pale in comparison with the multitude of topics, lessons and subjects covered in any child's primary academic career. In other words, there is still lots of good, solid education that children can benefit from in public school.
children of atheists...most likely grow up to be at least bisexual
Citations please.

I'm an angry parent, and I too am offended that our schools would ever have the gall to teach our kids about people who are different from us!

Why unfair to atheists? I'm an atheist and would find it perfectly acceptable if my child goes to a gay-friendly public school. I at least plan to teach him that it's OK if people are different.
And serious citation needed on the claim that Christians will be thrown in jail for saying that homosexuality is wrong. I think this is the new "illegal to pray in school" claim.

All I had to say to a kid who asked me why so-and-so had two mommies instead of a mommy and daddy was, "Because her two mommies love each other, just like your mommy and daddy do." End of discussion. Young children don't require the ins-and-outs of ANY relationship in an explanation, and you'd be pretty fucked up to give it to them.

I'm a Christian. I live in Canada, where gay marriage has been legal for nearly half a decade. Let's see about your hypothesis:
IT'S WRONG TO BE GAY!
*waits to be prosecuted*

Your kid isn't going to be bisexual just because he's taught not to hate gay people.

"The reason gay marriage will never be legal is because Christians will be prosecuted for saying it's wrong to be gay."
That ... doesn't even FOLLOW!
How the hell would Christians being "persecuted" for opposing homosexuality PREVENT gay marriage from becoming legal?!

Okay, my school never taught anything about gay people. Nothing at all, not even a side mention in sex education lessons.
Yet... im bisexual. Huh. How about that!

The reason gay marriage will never be legal is because Christians will be prosecuted for saying it's wrong to be gay.
Um... what? Logically, if you could be prosecuted for speaking out against homosexuality, gay marriage would be legal.
Secondly, your kids WILL be taught about gay sex in primary school if gay marriage is the law of the land.
I don't see why that's a bad thing. I mean, it's based on the assumption that everyone is opposed to homosexuality. I don't see why sex ed shouldn't cover both heterosexual and homosexual sex.
When this happens, most parents would then take their kids out of public schools and put them in Christians schools so their kids would avoid reading books like My Two Dad's.
Only if "most parents" are fundies.
This would be unfair to the children of atheists because they'd have to remain in gay-friendly public schools, and most likely grow up to be at least bisexual - we're all products of our environment I'm afraid.
Sexuality fail. I grew up in a Christian household and I was taught that homosexuality was wrong. In person, I've only known about three or four gay people in my life. And yet I still turned out a fag. Interesting.

Are all these Christian schools free? I really don't think that many parents can afford private schools for their kids.
And what's unfair about being bisexual? At the least you double your chances for a date.

Nobody's going to be prosecuted for speaking against gays. They'll be prosecuted for beating them up.
Kids won't be taught about gay sex in elementary schools. Heterosexual marriage is the current law of the land, and we don't teach het sex in elementary schools.
"So their kids would avoid reading books" <=== I get the feeling this is what you meant.

Uh, maybe you haven't noticed, but most atheists don't care about who you're attracted to. The people who are dumb enough to care about that are usually people who pick through the Bible to justify all their hatred.
And I know I bisexual girl who has an insanely Catholic mother. So your little Christian kids could grow up to be gay or bi, and the only difference sending them to a Christian school where it's not okay to be gay will make is now your kid will be beaten up by bullies.

Show me an atheist who cares whether their kid is straight or not, and I'll show you 100 who don't.
Also, take what PWEOTWEB said, and repeat it to yourself twice daily, then show it to all of the conservative Christians you know. It's quite correct. If you doubt it, look up the relevant legislation. Now shove your poorly veiled bigotry up your ass.
