"agnostic means that you believe in A God, just not the god in the bible..."
Another ignorant moron for jebus.
"...and atheists believe god is fake..."
Most definitely. Your god does not exist. Unless you have any evidence for him? No, thought not.
"...and that we are cousins of apes.."
Human beings *are* apes, idiot.
Now how could ... ?
Oh. It's Yahoo! Answers.
No. Agnosticism is believing that it's not possible to know whether a god exists or not.
Also, atheism simply means a lack of belief in god, it does not automatically imply belief in the theory of evolution as currently formulated by the scientific community. You could believe that aliens from another planet created seeded the planet with life and still technically be an atheist (although this depends on how you define a god, I suppose)
believe in A God,
Since everyone else is telling you what you got wrong, let me just say that A doesn't need to be capitalized. The one in 'agnostics' does, though, because it's at the beginning of a sentence.
So. That settles it. Muslims are agnostics. As are Buddhist. Hindus, Sikhs, etc.
How stupid. I would not be an xian for the very simple reason that I would not want to be associated with such moronic idiocy.
I'm an agnostic. I don't know what if anything is out there. I don't worry about it. I don't need anything to be there but if there is that's fine, if there isn't that's fine as well. I live my life, I try to be nice to everyone, I wish everyone a good life, and that everyone knows peace and happiness.
Actually I prefer the Eastern philosophy that we are all connected to each other and the universe, and that we should treat each other and and the earth with respect.
If you believe in some god, or any god then you're a deist, NOT an agnostic. You might like to look up that word and see what its root is and how it applies to the field of philosophy. And yes, this will be on the exam. Thank you; class dismissed.
DEIST means you believe in a god, just not the god of the BuyBull.
AGNOSTIC means you don't know, and that it's not possible to know.
ATHEIST means you don't believe that there is a God, or any gods.
I believe you're fucking stupid.
Agnostic means w/o knowledge of god (that'd be everyone because no one knows shit). Atheists lack belief in deities -that's it. Atheists aren't required to believe in Evolution (sep issue fuktard).
I am both an Agnostic and Atheist (an Agnostic Atheist). I have no knowledge of any gods therefore, how the heck can I claim positive affirmation belief in something I know nothing about? But continue with your demonization if that's the only way you make yourself feel better.
I'm no theologist or whatever they are called, but aren't agnostics people who admit that there COULD be a higher power, but don't know for sure? That or there could be a higher power but they don't really give a shit.
Lots of people, including some atheists and agnostics seem to have trouble with nailing down an exact definition of the words. He's further from the mark than most though. We're not talking about mutually exclusive terms here.
Agnostic - Deals with knowledge. Ultimately whether or not there is a god is unknowable.
Atheist - Deals with belief, or lack of that belief. I don't hold theistic beliefs.
Don't hold a positive belief in a god like a theist or deist would? Then you're an atheist. You lack that belief. People often talk about how open they are to the idea, or that they don't think there is a knowable answer even when that's not the question asked.
Agnostic =/= Undecided
Atheist =/= Belief that there is no god
Me = Agnostic atheist.
Those are the most accurate definitions considering the origins of the words, and the definitions that I hear used most often.
"agnostic means that you believe in A God, just not the god in the bible"
I don't think "agnostic" means what you think it means.
Confused?
