This is another example of what I call "virtue via hyperbole": in order to appear moral and virtuous in front of whatever group you belong to, it is necessary to make grotesque exaggerations of how bad members of another group are.
The bizarre thing about "virtue via hyperbole" is that there is no upper limit to how harshly you can criticise something - the more insanely hyperbolic you are, the better.
So it's not enough to say "I disagree with Obama's politics", which is a perfectly acceptable thing to say - that doesn't quite demonstrate the extent of your disagreement enough. No, Sharma Brown can only impress her acolytes by making ridiculous claims of Obama's election being a form of terrorism, in the hope that all her friends will congratulate her on how noble she is to be able to make such a statement.

This could be true, as the poor souls over at Rapture Ready know only too well. For the Rapturians have predicted the persecution of the Rapture Ready site by the President of the USA, Barak Obama. Of course it hasn't happened yet but it will happen soon, and here I'm using the Rapture Ready meaning where soon means 10 billion, billion, trillion years from now, or never, or whichever occurs first.
