Quote# 67842

People often forget that the tiniest sin against a perfect, eternal God is intolerable. That ANYONE is allowed to enter heaven is an incomprehensible act of mercy.

God sounds like a spoiled brat to me.

Nathan the Wise

Perfect? that jerk? Don't think so, chief.

11/25/2009 1:50:15 PM

No I haven't forgot the teachings of my church in childhood. I just see it for the crap that it is.

Try looking up the meaning of mercy and see why your talking bollocks.

11/25/2009 1:55:10 PM

Thin-skinned, is he?

11/25/2009 1:56:11 PM

Doctor Whom

Any sin against a perfect, eternal God would have a vanishingly small effect. I suffer more when a black ant tries to bite me (which I can't even feel) than such an entity would when we mere mortals sin.

11/25/2009 1:57:12 PM

Hm, is lying a sin?
God did so

Is killing a sin?
God did so

Is anger a sin?
God was often angry

Given gods track record (according to the bible), there are many people who more deserve to be in heaven than god ;)

"People often forget that the tiniest sin against a perfect, eternal God is intolerable."

How did your "perfect" god so royally fuck things up? There's no sense in trying to pass the blame onto humans. Your god is omnipotent, omniscient and "perfect" and, as such, could not possibly have made anything that would be screwed up by a woman eating an apple.

Also, if your god truly is "perfect" then he's also "perfectly" forgiving which means that he'd let everyone into Heaven despite any failures, sins or other shortcomings they may have. That alone precludes the need for your Jesus, salvation, confession, sin, Hell and any number of other things you've come up with over the centuries.

11/25/2009 2:27:25 PM

So God creates his (flawed) toys
God break the toys
Then God punishes the toys he made?

11/25/2009 2:34:08 PM

And that he decided to let assholes like you in over everyone else is an incomprehensible act of stupidity.

11/25/2009 2:38:47 PM

Then I guess heaven is pretty empty then. Heaven, population: 3 = the Holy Trinity.

What kind of being would create imperfect beings, then punish said imperfect beings for all eternity for being imperfect, yet claim that it loves its creations?

Sometimes I wonder if religion is just the biggest form of Stockholm Syndrome there is.

11/25/2009 2:39:21 PM

Being intolerant isn't very perfect...

11/25/2009 2:41:46 PM

If he is perfect then tiny, trivial "sins" shouldn't really be such a big deal to him that he makes you suffer for eternity.

11/25/2009 2:47:42 PM

Old Viking

Damn! I was so looking forward to spending eternity with people like you.

11/25/2009 2:56:58 PM

And yet all you lying, hate-filled, child-abusing, murder-advocating, sex-obsessed, egotistical fundies somehow believe you already have an irrevocable first class ticket to heaven.

Dr. Shrinker

Ah, but if your god did not allow people into heaven, your god would have no one to bow, scrape and debase themselves before him. Your god apparently can't stomach that possibility.

Now tell me again why such a pathetic, insecure entity deserves to be praised?

11/25/2009 3:25:53 PM

Not surprising, since the Catholics consider EVERYTHING a sin....

11/25/2009 3:50:55 PM

Caustic Gnostic

Prove heaven exists, smart guy.

11/25/2009 4:03:37 PM

So god has schizophrenia, OCD, narcissistic personality disorder, and anger management problems. He's probably also got some pyromanic tendencies and the sight of blood is practically erotic to him. The guy would be put in solitary confinement if he was human!

Okay, so let's say that the universe was caused by the hatching of a giant, eternal cosmic egg. Now what?

11/25/2009 4:33:37 PM

Eh this sounds like Dante.

11/25/2009 5:18:19 PM

Dr. Shrinker

@ Troy who is masquerading as LDM

"Don't worry about who God is yet or even if He exists,"

I don't

"...just realize the universe needs a cause and can't come from nothing."

Why not? What makes you such an expert? And, for the thousandth time why should we apply this notion to the universe and not to your god?

"Let me know if you have reached that point yet."

Don't patronize me Troy.

"If you were to find a cause for radioactive decay or whatever, you would still say something else could happen all by itself."

And you point here is...? I mean, science always provides you with more questions to be answered. Religion may provide final answers, but they are meaningless answers, so why bother?

"Are you like a 3 year old?"

I said don't patronize me.

"There is observably proven trillions of causes in nature and no hard evidence something (in nature) comes from that which does not exist."

That doesn;t prove god. It only means that there are more questions to be answered. An inquisitive mind embraces this fact. I dull mind hides its face in the corner and screams for an easy answer. that is all your god is, an easy answer to soothe your fears.

"Why shut your mind down to this fact?"

See my above response and tell me who is shutting their mind.

"Why don't you like fact-based overwhelming preponderance of evidence that is beyond a reasonable doubt?"

I do, that is why I reject your god. Your god is a supernatural entity and thus incapable of being examined by natural evidence.

"e.g. throwing a baseball. Try it out, throw a baseball."

And that would prove what now?

"Why do you need to know all things to know if the universe requires a cause?"

Who the @#$! said that?

"That's stupid."

I agree. Why did you bring it up?

"Stop avoiding the question. Only God could know all things."

Why should I assume that god exists? Your screed begins by telling me not to think about him.

"You make yourself out to be God then."

Your god does not exist. if I am wrong, then show me your god.

"How obnoxious and pompous!"

But spamming this stupid screed on every thread you can find isn't? You've got some weird ideas of those words mean.

"You don't care about logic do you?"

Do you even know what that word "Logic" means? Your screed does not suggest that you do.

11/25/2009 5:20:40 PM

That's a nice way to say that your God is petty and unforgiving.

11/25/2009 6:17:49 PM

No, its the only argument you can make to prove your deity to be benevolent. Too bad there's plenty of ways to debunk it.

11/25/2009 7:09:37 PM

Not according to my gods. Then again my gods tell that good people with good hearts are welcome with them. Regardless of beliefs or faith.

11/25/2009 8:11:39 PM

once again.

I'd rather be with Satan.
