By that logic, every kind of surgery done is 'mutilating the body the Lord provided'. So, in case of appendicitis, bad eyesight, malformations of all kinds, that giant growth in the middle of your forehead, all those things are Godgiven and you're going to live with (or die by) it dammit!

There was a time when any kind of surgery was considered to be mutilating the body God gave a person. Lots of people died from surgically treatable injuries and diseases. Then anesthesia was developed, superstition was put aside, and the life expectancy increased.

I REALLY don't understand what the big deal is with fundies and the transgendered. If God makes a kid with a cleft lip, it's a sign of a fallen world, and it's fine for that kid to get it sewn up by a surgeon. But if God puts a woman into a male body or vice versa, it's an abomination to have that surgically rectified? They don't have any Biblical support for this attitude, it's just plain old prejudice disguised as moral indignation.

I've remarked before about how utterly perverse it is that these demented simpletons, who insist that anything "worldly" is of no consequence and that only the "soul" matters, also tend to insist that one's gender identity should be determined exclusively based on whether one has a penis or not (and penises are about as worldly an item as you can get), not on the state of one's mind (which is the closest thing to a soul that can unequivocably be said to exist, cogito etc).

These transpeople go through a LOT of stress in life first in accepting who they are and when in transition and after. They go through life trying to be accepted and failing due to some close minded people giving them no respect. Not only that but your God supposedly created them that way (after all he knew everything that was going to happen, ever). Which means when they die they'd be judged according to how your God supposedly made them? Then live in suffering for eternity for the "sin" of being created that way and wanting to change.

After all, God makes our appendixes to swell, the accidents that defigure our faces......................as well as the quantity of hormones and the lack of organs that determine your status.
If I were God, the bible would be a test. If you use it to back up your selfish fantasies, indoctrinate your children into a death cult, and hate others for wanting happiness like anyone else does...
