[Obama appoints a transgender woman to the position of Senior Technical Advisor at the Department of Commerce.]
People who intentionally chop off body parts are normal in your world?
You would take financial advice from a person who had their eyeball removed so they could better masquerade as a pirate?

Well I'd probably take that persons advice over some smooth salesman telling me that I can trust him because he's a "True Christian".
People who believe in invisible, omnipotent friends in the sky are normal in your world?
You would take financial advice from a person who wilfully ignored evidence and logical reasoning to retain their belief in the absurd?
I fail to see how a pirate would be any less trustworthy than any of our current financial advisers.
And if he were a "True Pirate"(TM) then he would believe in the Delicious Goodness of FSM and thus would be a very trustworthy person.
So yes, I would trust this person.
I think people who have had the apendix removed are normal, yes, and people who remove their breasts due to their hereditary high risk of breast cancer. People who cut their hair and/or beard regulary are also normal in my view, even though the Bible frowns upon it.

And yes, when one has something wrong with one's body, and an amputation corrects the problem, that's normal.
SOOOO not the same thing.
SRS is corrective surgery, fixing a physical defect, that is, a body that doesn't match up with the person's innate gender.
Having your eyeball removed so you can better masquerade as a pirate is grounds for a 72-hour hold.
um...circumcision? Yeah that's not cutting off body parts.
And yes, so long as he gives good financial advice. His eyes and desire to look like a pirate have nothing to do with financial advice.
People who chop off body parts are normal in YOUR world. In the words of Jesus:
"If your hand or your foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life maimed or crippled than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into eternal fire. And if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell." Matthew 18:8-9
do you piss and moan this much when someone has an appendectomy? Or tonsillectomy? A tummy tuck, or a nose job?
Your compassion for the transgendered is very much lacking.
As for taking financial advise, you're darned tootin' I would take the advice from a transgendered person if he/she knew what they were talking about, unlike your clueless ass.
I'm just gonna point out the obvious; pirates did not wear patches for lack of an eyeball, so the analogy fails completely. For those of you who are curious, they covered one eye during the day so that it would be adapted to the dark and they could shoot better at night.
For fuck's sake, TRANS WOMEN DON'T "CHOP OFF" ANYTHING!
IF they get bottom surgery (which not all of them do), they will be getting their penis changed into a vagina, not cutting it off you fucking idiot.
Therefore it's less equivalent to getting an eyeball removed, but more like getting your eyeball (one which you hate and causes you dysphoria and distress) replaced by a different kind of eyeball (one which they are more comfortable with).
And of course trans women aren't "masquerading" as anything. THEY ARE WOMEN.
People who intentionally chop off body parts are normal in your world?
So circumcisions, appendectomies, liposuction, amputations due to diabetes, etc. are all sinful?
"People who intentionally chop off body parts are normal in your world?"
It's their body. As long as they're not in an abnormal mental state (i.e., psychotic delusions or some such) then I see no reason why they should not do what they like with their own body.
"You would take financial advice from a person who had their eyeball removed so they could better masquerade as a pirate?"
Possibly. How much did the Ol' Cap'n make for his clients last year?
"You would take financial advice from a person who had their eyeball removed so they could better masquerade as a pirate?"
An eyepatched & swashbuckling Pastafarian of the high seas would be infinitely preferable to a fundie with 20-20 vision, but blinded by 'faith'. Two Words: Sarah Failin. There's infinitely better people with partial sight who have done great things:
Gordon Banks: Goalkeeper for Stoke City FC & England. Was in the team that won the World Cup in 1966.
Peter Falk: Actor. "Columbo". Need I say more?
Gordon Brown MP: Politician. Formerly Chancellor of the Exchequer. Became leader of the Labour Party*; now Prime Minister of the UK.
*- David Blunkett. Home Secretary in Tony Blair's cabinet. He's blind. Didn't stop him doing his job.
Now, care to explain how having 'The Op.' prevents said transgender person doing the job they've been appointed to, Eaker (& everyone else on Free Repubic)?
@Natalie
"I have a third nipple. I've been thinking about getting it removed. If I do, will that make me abnormal?"
No, but I suggest not doing so. It would probably make you an expert shot.
People who intentionally chop off body parts are normal in your world?
So, you are not circumcised?
If you are, then body parts have been chopped off you too. I'm lucky, my parents didn't mutilate my body when I was born.
@Headache
"People who intentionally chop off body parts are normal in your world?
So, you are not circumcised?"
In that case, seeing as male babies in Britain aren't routinely circumcised (still got my foreskin!), fundies like Eaker (who aren't Jewish or Muslim) are the subnormal ones.
But then, if we were meant to be circumcised, why were we born with foreskins in the first place? With such a simple question does the whole fragile edifice that is Creationism and 'Intelligent Design' come crashing down.
"I'm lucky, my parents didn't mutilate my body when I was born."
Surely routine circumcision in the US is child abuse? It sounds to me even worse than 'cruel and unusual punishment'. I'm surprised it hasn't been legislated out of existence, just as Roe vs. Wade effectively renders the 'Pro-Life' movement impotent (and thus it's proponents are all in denial), and Kitzmiller vs. Dover destroyed teaching 'Intelligent Design' (effectively 'Creationism by Stealth') in US schools.
Individual male Americans have the right to choose, don't they? To snip, or not to snip, that is the question...
AAAARRRrrrrrrr, and what have ye against pirates, ye bilge scum? One of me mates has but one leg, and pirates it up every Halloween. He's been accused of "doing anything to win a costume contest."
But I'll keep an eye out for ye, matey.
Intentionally chopping off body parts, no, that is not normal. Receiving a safe, PSYCHOLOGICALLY APPROVED surgical procedure to make her body match her mindset? Still not "Normal" per se, but not grounds for denying someone a job they are qualified for. It's because of assholes like you we have anti-discrimination laws, and those laws cover this woman as well. Yes, woman.
Holy fucking shit! I just sprayed juice all over my keyboard laughing at this fuckwit.
Eaker, you are aware that christians chop parts of their bodies off right? Does the word foreskin mean anything to you?
Re: Anon-e-moose's 08:07 Jan 25th post
True, but would she charge $1,000,000 a shot...?
After all, custom made 24 carat gold explosive bullets, do cost a fair whack...
@G. Fieendish
"True, but would she charge $1,000,000 a shot...?"
If I were as rich as Bill Gates, it'd be worth it to have the likes of Pat Robertson, Rush Limbaugh et al put out of everyone's misery.
"You would take financial advice from a person who had their eyeball removed so they could better masquerade as a pirate?"
Actually, I would find that completely hilarious....and the answer is "yes" if they knew what they were doing and weren't uncomfortable to work with....
Eaker..
Imagine, there is a horrible, hateful thing inbetween your legs.
Imagine you hate it. It disgusts you. You feel queasy when you touch it.
You're incapable of sex or masturbation, because they require the use of this part. That's what having a penis is like, for a transsexual woman like me.
Wouldn't you want that part made into something you'd like? I sure do. I think you would too. I think anyone would. I think anyone would do almost anything for that.
Who cares about the appearance of a person, as long as that person can, and does, do their job to the best of their ability?
"You would take financial advice from a person who had their eyeball removed so they could better masquerade as a pirate?"
If they knew what they were doing, hell yeah! You know, with prosthetic bodyparts getting better and some freaky science that might make androids real, I wonder what this person would say to Transhumanists like me?
"People who intentionally chop off body parts"
Matthew 18:8-9, "Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire. And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire."
You would take financial advice from a person who had their eyeball removed so they could better masquerade as a pirate?
Well yeah, if they had good financial advice to give. I mean, if they know what they're talking about, then why not?
Anyway, if the guy's really hardcore about masquerading as a pirate in his spare time, then that's his business. I don't care as long as his hobby doesn't interfere with his ability to do his job competently.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
