Slavery doesn’t start with the slaveholders. It starts with the slaves. It doesn’t start when someone draws a gun and forces others to work for them. It starts when the others refuse to take care of themselves and their families, when they ask for someone to give them what they want—from cradle to grave. Freely. Slavery starts when a man abandons the responsibility to make decisions for his own life and let others make those decisions. The real essence of slavery is in the deliberate surrender of individual rights and responsibilities to others. Slavery is in the instinct to be a sheep and find others to feed you and shear you.

Please, take me away from all I know in a crowded ship, chained to the wall and wallowing in my own shit, to a faraway country to work insane hours for no pay and to be killed if I even dream about leaving.
Yeah, entirely the slave's choice. Idiot.
"The real essence of slavery is in the deliberate surrender of individual rights and responsibilities to others. Slavery is in the instinct to be a sheep and find others to feed you and shear you."
The way you fundies do everything your preacher tells you? And believe everything faux news tells you?
"Slavery is in the instinct to be a sheep and find others to feed you and shear you"
So every time Jesus mentioned being a shepherd and leading you(the sheep) what he really meant was that he enslaved you all. Well, that definitely casts christianity in a new light, doesn't it?
Those poor Africans pleaded with the captains of the ships to take them away forever from their homeland and dear ones to a place where they would be worked hard on plantations, get whipped at the whim of their masters and probably get killed if they didn't obey in the minutest detail. And they also wanted to see their women and children being taken from them, probably never to see them again, and being sold on to other kind nice and decent slaveowners. Sure.
Bojidar Marinov, I wish nothing but the best for you - a life of slavery under the same conditions as plantation slaves had to live. I hope, should my wish come tur, that you will appreciate my kindness to you, and that you will enjoy every moment as the Africans did when they were brought to America.
More to the point, you are a hypocrite who deserves a savage whipping for your inhumanity.
"The real essence of rape is in the deliberate surrender of an individual's body to others."
"The real essence of spousal abuse is in the deliberate surrender of an individual's face to the fist others."
"The real essence of child abuse is in the deliberate surrender of an individual's flesh and bones to the anger of others."
No matter how you look at it, you, Bojidar, are a grade A asshole.
However, this one does make sense; "The real essence of religion is in the deliberate surrender of individual rights, responsibilities, will and brain power to others."
Well at least now I understand why so many Americans are cool with working a lot of hours, no vacation, a salary that barely covers the basics, no health insurance and a crushing debt forcing them to work way into old age.
The difference is, Americans chose this way. For some bizarre reason, it seems to me, they just looooove submitting.
I mean, I have a day job, too. I really really don't think this country is as free as they say it is.
I can see how this would be easily misinterpreted.
The OP is not arguing that African slaves brought over to the US chose to be slaves. Instead, he seems to be talking about the conservative idea that beneficiaries of the "welfare state" are slaves in a sense, beholden to the government that gives them their benefits.
Wrongheaded, most definitely, but not quite as vile a statement when understood in that light.
Seems to me he's mixing up using 'slavery' as a metaphor for being one of those socialist chappies, and 'slavery' as a real life abomination.
Stupid, I know, but there you go ...
In kinky S&M fetish, maybe.
Oh, pff, and he responded to all the criticism too. Least he realizes that he's giving off the wrong vibes, but he's just digging his own grave deeper and deeper...
One more thing: Kidnappers of black men and women were guilty and no doubt they deserved judgment. But there is one more thing to explain: Why is it that African societies were so eager to sell their own people? Why millions of men didn't do anything to resist the few thousand thugs who kidnapped them and sold them and their families? Does that have anything to do with their worldview and their religious faith? Why were there no slaves kidnapped from Europe? Why did Europeans resist slavery among themselves? Does that have anything to do with their faith?

What the fuck is wrong with USA?
This country is choke full with morons like this, is it the water or is it the food that makes people become so mentally retarded?
It certainly can't be genetics so it must be some form of poisoning.
Traditionally, slavery has started with people being dragged out of their homes, having their authority figures slaughtered before their eyes, and then watching their home burned to the ground. You will note that these people were taking care of themselves just fine, until (usually) their group lost a conflict with some other group. If it's not related to full-out war, then kidnapping in raids (this is the source of most of the slaves taken from Africa to North America and Europe.)* I realize you don't like social security programs, but claiming that they're the cause of every bad thing you can think of will not help your cause, particularly since you don't seem to understand the history of the things you're discussing. Claiming slavery is the fault of the slaves is not only stupid and contemptible, but counterproductive.
*The one exception, that actually resembles your theory at all is debt slavery, which while it's still not exactly voluntary, does have some relationship, at least initially, to an inibility to support oneself. Even this is not such a great example, as modern debt-slavery generally involves some level of dishonesty or threat on the part of the master to get a person into debt with them.

It might be genetics.
The first europeans in America were
1) religious fanatics who were unable to get along with their neighbors and had to move to a different continent
2) criminals who had a choice of going to prison or going to America
They were the genetic founders of white America.
So you're out in the fields growing your own food, making your own stone tools and trapping your own fur? I don't think so. You surrender individual rights and responsibilities to others when it's to your benefit; you just don't want to reciprocate. The fundie definition of socialism: "any government spending that doesn't benefit ME!" Don't try to hide selfishness and greed behind the "individual freedom" label.
Somebody has some BDSM fantasies?
Because that sure in hell isn't how real slavery works.
Edit:
Okay, so he's talking about any kind of social services as slavery. Healthcare is slavery according to him, because people who get cancer or run over by drunk drivers were too lazy to take care of their own health. He's still a fucking idiot.
Only intellectual slavery, Bojidar.
Physical slavery is still instituted entirely by force, just as it always has been. That's one reason why it's banned in the U.S.
@Mister Spak.
But the funny thing is that you find tons of black fundies who are not related to those but to slaves.
And there is no way any genetic change in a population like the US would happen in such a short time not to mention that every immigrant or close to; would have to have been bearer of the same genetic mutation. Sorry, I don't buy it.
So the African people who were captured in nets while out gathering food for their families, shoved into ships unable to move even to relieve themselves, branded like livestock and sold at auction very much against their will were lazy asshats who refused to take care of themselves?
Wow. So much fail in so little time. 0_o
You...you seriously think that slaves become that way VOLUNTARILY?! That they willfully let themselves become classified as sub-humans? Just so they don't have to be responsible for their lives? Get fucking real. Slaves are forced into that position. Kidnapped, threatened, blackmailed, you name it. But not voluntarily. Unless you're into that kind of thing, but that's a totally different kind of slave.
Oh, I guess that the African slaves brought to America didn't want to take care of their families, practise their culture, associate with friends, have homes and eat healthy diets. It all makes so much sense now!
Someone named Bojidar Marinov, a Slav, would of course know about the roots of slavery. Everyone knows how the Slavic peoples eagerly sought out the Vikings, Arabs, and Western Christians and begged to be taken care of.
Ok, ok, why would people in Africa would want to go to America in the first place, if white men didn't enslave them first?, are they going to swim to reach there or just going to make free labour force in the land so profitable and lucrative that it would be worth investing in it?
Nope, this isn't about the Slave Trade, is it?
It's about slavery to the welfare state. Us British are absolutely enslaved because we don't get to pay our doctors at the point of use, as it were. We don't have to become bankrupted if a family member contracts cancer. We don't have to work every night in a burger bar to get through university. Oh, wait, we do have to do that now. Freedom! Yay!
No, even debt slavery starts when basic resources like food, clothing, and shelter are controlled and restricted by greedy and powerful people. Who can then force the poorest and weakest around them to work under inhumane conditions in order to pay several times what those goods are really worth.
The ones in power do everything they can, whatever means necessary, to keep the workers from earning enough to ever break free. Otherwise, they would lose the ability to keep multiplying their profits so cheaply.
That is slavery. And it always starts with the powerful taking advantage of the powerless.

If it's welfare the point is valid
if it's slavery then it's forced labor or you die. You're not a slave under welfare, there are conditions, none of which are death or physical punishment.
Confused?
