Quote# 6996

I bet the Russians didn't see any of the [US rocket] emissions they expected from the moon. Already afraid for their image and under pressure they didn't dare to make that public, afraid their equipment would make a laughable impression on the rest of the world. Maybe they later found out about it, but then they would keep silent to hide the fact they lost the cold war due to being fooled in the greatest way ever in human era. Again an image protecting strategy.

Err...what? Someone, please, explain this to me. I don't understand what's he talking about.

@ watcher16
Putting a man on the moon (even though it was primarily politically motivated) was, in my humble opinion, one of the greatest achievements of the American nation, something that immortalized your country's name in scientific history till the very end of humanity, and yet here you are, a terrible fool.

@ CinnamonGull
The title of the thread is "Forget the Moon, spacetravel doesn't exist anyway." So I think he's counter-arguing the fact that if the American moon landings were fake, the Russians would have made it public out of the cold war rivalry.
