[Check out the irony in this one, from Rapture Ready]

I visited Haiti in 1984, and when I was there a missionary told us you couldn't understand the Haitian mindset without understanding voodoo. Someone who practices voodoo is always seeing signs everywhere--a world full of omens. I had no personal experience with voodoo while there except for 1 weird occurrence. I was in a store and a person there was visibly spooked by my blue eyes. (I guess that would fall into the omen thing).

Sign of the rapture soon to come, I'm sure.

And when Obama was elected, it was the surest omen that the world is ending soon.

@Sweet Fancy Moses

Not to mention when he burnt his toast, stubbed his toe, saw three dogs on his way to work, and a cloud that looked like an ice cream cone.

Before this earthquake I wasn't aware that there were any people who were glad that the Haitians for living in misery, obviously deserving it, let alone SO MANY who casually justified the Atlantic slave trade and the quake itself.

"I was in a store and a person there was visibly spooked by my blue eyes."

Was this before or after you started "witnessing" to him?

I visited Haiti in 1984, and when I was there a Voudoun Houngan told us you couldn't understand the American fundie mindset without understanding the supposed inerrancy of the Bible. Someone who practices fundyism is always seeing signs everywhere--a world full of omens. I had no personal experience with fundyism while there except for 1 weird occurrence. I was in a store and a person there was visibly spooked by my blue eyes. (I guess that would fall into the omen thing).

Wow. Just--how do you not notice the obvious similarities there?

@iComix: A lot of those Catholics also practice Voudun. They don't perceive any kind of spiritual conflict in practicing both. Like Christian Buddhists, only with more dancing.

Funny, that sounds just like another religion I know of... what's it called...? Oh, yes, CHRISTIANITY!

RR, i hope you understand the irony of this statement.

And there are how many examples of "seeing signs everywhere" on the RR site?

1/30/2010 6:31:20 AM

They probably saw your blank stare and the drool on your chin and thought you were a zombie.

I visited Kentucky in 1984, and when I was there a Baptist told us you couldn't understand the Kentucky mindset without understanding Rapturists. Someone who practices Rapturism is always seeing signs everywhere--a world full of omens. I had no personal experience with Rapturists while there except for one weird occurrence. I was in a store and a person there heard a semi blow its air-horn. She lifted her eyes heavenward, fell to her knees and screamed "I'm HERE, Jesus; I'm HERE!" She thought the horn was the signal for the Rapture. (I guess that would fall into the omen thing).

I like this post better:

"It’s always so sad to see so many suffering. But if there was ever a country that needed to turn to the one and only true God it would be Haiti. There's a common saying about Haiti, “that Haitians are 70 percent Catholic, 30 percent Protestant, and 100 percent voodoo.” Let’s pray they start Repenting and putting their Faith in Jesus alone. Only God can take a tragedy of this magnitude and turn it into Glory for His kingdom. Have Mercy Lord… "

Raptards makes me rage.

Ever think that maybe they hadn't really seen anyone with blue eyes?

1/30/2010 10:39:58 AM

Antichrist

Sure it was your blue eyes? Sure it wasn't the crazy they saw behind them? Or were you ranting about Jesus to some poor Catholic?

1/30/2010 10:53:29 AM

Someone who practices voodoo is always seeing signs everywhere--a world full of omens.

You folks on RR should get along with them just fine, then!
