I have seen “The Simpsons” on Fox before, so I went against better judgment and saw this film. The movie making quality was average. It contained the usual slapstick humor and quick witted joke the Simpson’s are known for. After watching it I felt the conviction of the Holy Spirit to repent. This film violated so many spiritual principles I don’t even know where to start. —The Bible tells us in Psalm 101 3-4 that “I will refuse to look at anything vile and vulgar” and to “reject perverse ideas and stay away from every evil.” When I need moral direction, I will read the Bible— if I’m in the mood to backslide or violate God’s principles I will watch “The Simpsons”.

Let's reverse this a bit:

HOWEVER:

So, in other words, you were already familiar with exactly the sort of content the show would have, and you got precisely what you expected, so you must have already been "in the mood to backslide or violate God's principles" when you went to see the movie.

Good for you! Pity it didn't stick.

Personally, I like it when a movie does "what it says on the tin," as the Brits say. You got exactly what you went to see! What's the problem?

As for reading the Bible for moral direction, I'd reconsider that if I were you. As flawed for this as The Simpsons may be, at least it doesn't encourage slavery, genocide, rape, and other atrocities like the Bible does.

The freakin' TV show has been on what -- 50?? -- well 20-plus years? And you didn't realize what it's about? Oh geez, I just saw that you're 29, the show's been on for more than two-thirds of your life.
Fuck, I think you psychos purposely go to movies you know will offend you just so you can be, well, offended. The only enjoyment you get out of anything depends on how many of your god bells it rings. That way you get to actually watch said material, with the added fillip you get of then writing some Jesusy screed and yelling about the great Whore 'o Hollywood.
But in case I'm wrong and you want to take the family to a quality animated movie that is filled with Christian values, you can't do better than the South Park Movie.

Pfft, that shit was tame. Almost every Christian I know likes The Simpsons. Hell, my dad watches it every night and goes to church every Sunday - but then, he's also a believer in theistic evolution, so maybe he's just not a complete raving lunatic like some of these fundies. In fact, at my mum's favourite Christian bookstore there's a large hard-cover book called something like "Christian Messages in The Simpsons" or something, which I understand is meant to be so that parents can have discussions with their kids about the moral messages and/or Christian content in each episode. So really, you have to be a complete buzzkill to be hating on this movie for being "vile and vulgar".

It begs the question: if a movie were made of the Bible, with all the sex, murder and genocide included, how would it be rated. The Bathsheba story alone would rate a series of Xs. And for all the dancing on pinheads, the David and Jonathan story is a gay love affair. It even uses Hebrew slang for 'to come/cum', which is rendered (in English) 'to exceed oneself.' Actually not a bad definitione either!

And Orrin (Or in? Hard not to tease with a name like that! But no great malice intended.) worries about the Simpsons? They don't exist. And yes. Part of keeping society reasonable sane is a modicum of vulgarity and satire. However, the tight religious right are a sociological pathology.

Orrin, you should think about taking up snake-handling. It's far more dangerous than the Simpsons.
