So where does that "love thy neighbor" and "turn the other cheek" part come in again?

Let's see that citation!
a savior that advocates immolation!

'Jesus'. You keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it means.

Oooh I see. So right after he saved Mary Magdaline from being stoned he threw her on the barbeque.
No wait.. THAT IS NOT IN THE BIBLE

Religion of love and tolerance, everyone!

Read it in context, guys-- the poster is being sarcastic.
1/30/2010 5:35:13 AM
That sounds like a much cooler Jesus than the gospels I read.
1/30/2010 5:56:05 AM
Yeah, in the context of the thread, this is definitely sarcastic. It's not even a worthy Poe.

Jesus regularly advocated burning sinners to death.
No, he didn't. He said that
would gather the righteous like wheat and the sinners would be burned like the chaff. He didn't advocate humans burning each other.

The same Jesus who spent all his time amongst the sinners? And when asked by the "good" and rich people why he wasn't hanging out with them instead, he responded with the anaology of why to doctors only attend to the ill?
If you read those actions as "burn sinners" then you're one fucked up cunt.

Chapter & verse?
Fact is your imaginary friend never even existed.
1/30/2010 8:30:51 AM
The non-existence of Jesus is not a fact, you know, no matter how often you say it. There's also evidence he *did*. It's up for debate.
Anyway, this should *not* be here. This is clearly a sarcastic statement taken out of context maliciously.

Chapter and verse, please, although I suspect your source is your rectal cavity.

"Jesus regularly advocated burning sinners to death."
. Also chapter & verse, bitch. And don't bother with your rewritten Scripture, neither:
Matthew 22:37-40 (KJV): 'Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.'
See you in Hell, Prof0705 & everyone else on Consevapoodia. Oh yes, you are
Revelation 22:18-19 says so.

Really? When? It's been a while since I've been to church, let alone read the Bible, but I seem to recall him preaching about being nice to other people.

This reminds me of that fundie quote a year back that seriously suggested Christ suffered from Dissociative Identity Disorder.
One helps the poor, the other curb stomps them.

Chapter and verse OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN!!!
1/30/2010 10:42:30 AM
Well, if Jesus is the same entity as god, while I don't recall him doing so as Jesus, God certainly advocated burning sinners to death, so that means it logically follows that Jesus has done so too, since he's the same being as God, even if he didn't do so as Jesus . . .
Of course, I'm giving this far more thought than fundies ever do, and I'm just trying to follow their (lack of) logic.

Except that one time when he said that "he without sin cast the first stone" thing.
1/30/2010 10:55:20 AM
Just remember we are not talking about the jewish Jesus here, the man in a robe and sandals, feeding the poor, no folks, we are talking about the American Jesus here and he looks like this:

Another bit of sarcasm that made it on here.
"We need to execute people like John Walker [Lindh] in order to physically intimidate liberals, by making them realize that they can be killed, too. Otherwise, they will turn out to be outright traitors," Conservative Political Action Conference, January 2002. Coulter later clarified what she meant; "when I said we should "execute" John Walker Lindh, I mis-spoke. What I meant to say was 'We should burn John Walker Lindh alive and televise it on prime-time network TV'. My apologies for any misunderstanding that might have occurred. "
A very Christian idea. I'm sure Jesus approves whole-heartedly. Prof0705 12:05, 16 May 2007 (EDT)
There is capital punishment in the Bible. Do you think the dictum "Judge not, lest ye be judged" was meant to give carte blanche to evil? Jesus spent most of his time telling people to stop doing bad things. --Ed Poor 12:08, 16 May 2007 (EDT)
I agree. Jesus regularly advocated burning sinners to death. I'm agreeing with you.Prof0705 12:10, 16 May 2007 (EDT)
The only places I can think of where Jesus did anything like call for the death penalty is when he's calling out the Pharisees in Mark 7 and Matthew 15. Brainslug 12:15, 16 May 2007 (EDT)

But Jesus did accept and repeat the 'condemned to hell' scenario.
By the way " let he who is without sin, cast the first stone" is just a way to find the biggest hypocrite in the group. Never trust that guy
